The three major Democratic campaign groups said Friday they would set aside more than $2 million they received from Sam Bankman-Fried, the disgraced founder of the cryptocurrency exchange FTX, and eventually seek to return the money to the exchange’s customers.

The Democrats’ decision adds to the pressure on a wide variety of other political organizations [PACs primarily], many of which have not yet said how they will proceed after accepting the FTX founder’s generous contributions during the 2022 election cycle.

Over that two-year period, Bankman-Fried gave about $40 million to political candidates and party groups, federal records show. He focused most of his donations on Democrats but often backed lawmakers from both parties seen as friendly to the crypto industry

Before his arrest, Bankman-Fried also said he had donated a significant sum to “dark money” groups that do not have to disclose their donors. He said he had done so in an attempt to aid Republicans, but he didn’t provide evidence of the donations. One of his fellow executives, Ryan Salame, also shelled out more than $20 million, largely to GOP candidates and organizations during the 2022 cycle, records show.

Organizations sometimes funnel donations which would be illegal for the org to give through their employees.

and sometimes they don't circumvent the law.

Right now there is 235,000 out of 70,100,000 established giving to the Republicans and the remaining $69,865,000 going to Democratic campaigns Making him their second largest donor.

Everything else presented on this thread had been unsubstantiated accusations.

No. The "everything else" is a *claim* not an "accusation". It is Bankman-Fried who makes the claim. Given his nature, we are free to not believe him. Though there is one more fact we should take into account:

He has been charged for illegally bundling or reimbursing political payments made by others. The indictment does not provide details of the amounts, persons, or candidates.

"West Realm Shire Services," listed as the official PAC for FTX, gave $1 million to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's Senate Leadership Fund, as well as $750,000 to House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy's Congressional Leadership Fund...

....Salame spent $24.5 million in donations, primarily to Republican candidates through the party's "WinRed" platform. He gave $2.5 million to the Senate Leadership Fund and $2 million to the Congressional Leadership Fund. He also gave $89,200 to the National Republican Congressional Committee and $109,500 to the National Senatorial Campaign Committee.

Salame also donated $13 million to the "American Dream Federal Action" hybrid PAC, which spent $12.2 million on independent expenditures to support Republican Senate and House candidates such as Republican Rep. Rodney Davis of Illinois and Senator-elect Katie Britt of Alabama.

"Sam Bankman-Fried, the former FTX CEO, was ordered to jail on Friday after a judge revoked his bail for alleged witness tampering.
Prosecutors accused SBF of leaking private diary entries of his former girlfriend, Caroline Ellison, to The New York Times.
....
On Friday, the U.S. District Court Judge Lewis Kaplan sided with prosecutors and ordered SBF detained, saying the FTX CEO had tried to intimidate witnesses and taint the jury pool."

Will Mr Trump notice what happened to Bankman and comply with the court's order?

“I do want to issue a general word of caution — I intend to ensure the orderly administration of justice in this case as I would in any other case, and even arguably ambiguous statements by the parties or their counsel,” she said, could be considered an attempt to “intimidate witnesses or prejudice potential jurors,” triggering the court to take action.

-Judge Tanya S. Chutkan, hearing on Aug 11 with Trump's defense counsel.

Former FTX executive Ryan Salame may forfeit $1.5 billion after pleading guilty to criminal charges

Salame pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to operate an unlicensed money transmitting business and one count of conspiracy to make unlawful political contributions and defraud the Federal Election Commission.

Three other insiders have previously pleaded guilty and are cooperating with authorities against Bankman-Fried

Prosecutors allege Salame and Singh made over 300 political donations totaling tens of millions of dollars using FTX customer funds obscuring Bankman-Fried’s role and exceeding federal contribution limits.

Prosecutors allege Bankman-Fried misused customer funds to make loans to Alameda, to fund venture investments and feed straw donors that were used to contribute to political campaigns, Republican and Democrat, to try to influence policy decisions impacting the crypto industry.

Sam Bankman-Fried Received a 25-Year Prison Sentence

On Thursday, Judge Lewis Kaplan used strong language to criticize Bankman-Fried and justify his sentence. He said that Bankman-Fried perjured himself three times while under oath, including falsely testifying that he had no knowledge that his trading firm Alameda had spent FTX customer funds until the fall of 2022. He said that Bankman-Fried seemed to lack remorse and had an "exceptional flexibility" with the truth—and that he had never seen as "evasive" a "performance" as Bankman-Fried's in his 30 years as a judge.
