I listen to alot of secular music and it usually has no effect on my walk with God EXCEPT one type of music. When I listen to sensual type of music I notice I am more likely to fall into sexual sin is this common?

It seems you have answered your own question

If you notice certain music has bad effects, why not instead intentionally listen to music for which you notice really positive effects? That draws you closer to God ... ?

I can listen to secular music, but I can't afford spiritually not to listen to Christian worship music - it's very powerful.

This is where Modes and/or keys come into play. They have different feels to them. Like the difference between Major and Minor keys. In Indian music they have Ragas and they are aligned with different parts of the day.

Also Japanese Scales. Look up Hirajoshi.
