No, actually, it doesn't. An employee need go no further than an apology.

"You misgendered me twice. You said 'he' and then you said 'she.'" A busy airline employee has no time for those games.

If the customer is unsatisfied by an apology from the employee, there's no point in that employee doing or saying anything more--clearly that customer must be directed to someone else.

Here is another view of the situation, with the video, provided by a transgender person who is not a jerk. He (a transgender man who identifies as "he") draws a distinction between transexuals and trans-activists.

That makes me think about how the military writes wargame scenarios. There is always a bit about how the "war" starts, failed diplomatic attempts, blah, blah, blah. But because the point is to have a "war," the "diplomatic attempts" in the scenario always fail.

That's what it's like dealing with a social influencer seeking publicity. It's their intention, one way or another, that whatever attempts you make to de-escalate the situation will fail because a "war" is what they want.
