Should the FBI be so focused upon Diversity, Equity, Inclusion issues?

We are committed to maintaining a diverse workforce and inclusive workplace that integrates equity across the entire organization. Our greatest asset is our people and they are imperative to ensuring the FBI can build trust, uphold the Constitution, and serve all communities.

That sounds like the right thing to do. The FBI is simply adding letters to the acronym. *yawn* My goodness, if that's all it takes to accomplish a certain amount of inclusivity, I can't image it being more effortless. Sounds like a win to me.

Sounds like a waste of time, to me, for anyone in the FBI that may have beliefs concerning gender, transgender, and other similar topics because of religious values.

Someone told me that to discuss this matter, all investigations into violent crime, kidnappings, gang related violence and terrorism were put on hold for a number of weeks until agreement could be reached.

Oh, hang on...

No, I've just been informed that the previous statement is incorrect. I'll repeat that - the previous statement was incorrect. Apparently someone just sent an email.

Whew...lucky us!

Is there any belief or practice that isn't religious if I merely claim that it is MY religious belief?

Explain that statement, please.

Any employer ought to be concerned with its employees feeling welcome and with making sure those employees are aware of and sensitive to the variety of folks they may experience in their work.

Does adding a couple of letters to an acronym accomplish that? I don't know, but I think the backlash to the addition is worse.

I'm all for inclusiveness, diversity, fairness, and equal protection under the law but at some point a lengthy acronym just gets a wee bit silly. I hope FBI software has a macro or autofill for the term so some unsuspecting agent doesn't get his/her knuckles rapped with a ruler for leaving a letter of the alphabet out of a report.

That's a great joke. It's hilarious that you believe they're doing investigations.

I thought this was regarding how the agents refer to each other...

After reading it, it still appears that way. When my agency got this policy...only one agent took the bait. He sent out an email explaining he's "Libragender" which nobody understood what that meant.

Now the guy/gal spends most days filling out redundant paperwork in a room about the size of a large broom closet. I don't know if the FBI is similar, but I wouldn't confuse virtue signaling with virtue.

I interpreted it as being comprehensive, covering internal and external communications.

I’m as cynical as anybody and don’t for a second confuse virtue signaling with virtue. This could very well be nothing more than cheap lip service. But I still think the backlash is worse.

The realities of what is supposed to happen after (fairly) recent SCOTUS decisions that allowed gay people to marry and that the 1964 CRA covers LGBTQIA+ in law filters down through the government agencies, eliude some, for some reason.

These directives can take years to write and implement, Obergefell was only 2015; Brown v BOE was 1954 and it took another ten years to pass the 1964 CRA.

You're probably right.. their PR guy probably has to use when discussing the outcomes of cases that are resolved.

I can imagine people are confused by how often they tend to leak inside information to the press....or whistleblow....but I don't think it applies to those situations.

Well...I don't know how seriously they can enforce this. You have a right to believe whatever you do...

I can understand that. I didn't see everything this entails though. Does it require using preferred pronouns?
