The WJ author is either a paranoid fool or a liar, or both - and he’s banking on his readers being ignorant and uncritical.

If you watch Obama’s entire response (which is linked to in the WJ piece) and not the shortened one to which you linked directly, it’s quite obvious that he was trying to contrast between parts of the job that he liked and parts that he didn’t miss. He was joking about playing puppetmaster, just as he was joking about not having to follow the constitution.

As iluvatar5150 notes, this is just a mild re-work of a Colbert interview. The article is a critical failure to understand the genre of the work and ascribing motivations where there are none. But, that's not surprising given the slant of the publication and it's ongoing paranoia about Barack Obama.

The Western Journal is an unfiltered conspiracy site masquerading as a traditional newspaper. It's InfoWars with fewer ads for "male vitality".

See, now here I didn’t feel the need to defend Obama because of an interview he gave nearly four years ago with an actual comedian and was mugging for the camera.
I think I didn’t feel this need because anybody trying to making political hay over this isn’t worth my time.

I often see Trump supporters baffled by "Trump hate".

I've never comprehended Obama hate. I mean, I have my suspicions, but I've never wrapped my mind around it. Obama was, at worst, a milquetoast president which resulted in a status quo and continuation of the George W. Bush era. Things certainly didn't seem to get worse under Obama, but they didn't really get better. However, things took a nose dive after Obama left office and Mr. 45 took the White House. Now we live in one of the bad timelines, where the United States is on the verge of becoming a banana republic and third world nation.

I am, admittedly, very pessimistic about America. We'll either recover, or we'll end up a failed state. But if things remain as things are, I don't see recovery happening. There are too many people in power who are doing their darndest to, in order to maintain power and control, steer the country to shipwreck. And seem perfectly happy to do it.

American decline didn't begin with Trump, or Obama, or even with George W. Bush. It's been this way since, at least, Reagan. Though I bet we could push it farther back to the Vietnam War era, probably back to Nixon.

Alex Jones makes bank selling what are re-badged white label "supplements". His strategy is to price at a nominal mark-up and then "discount" while using scare tactics to promote and drive artificial scarcity.

Something like "Super Male Vitality" is priced at anywhere from $59.99 to $85.99 a bottle and then discounted by up to 50% to make it appear that a deal is being offered.
