Her husband just found her lying on the couch with blood coming out of her mouth. Still breathing but not responsive. She was just rushed to the hospital.

They found methadone in her system. Where in the world she got it is a mystery to me. They think all the blood coming from her mouth was because she had a seizure and bit her tongue. She is on a ventilator and is being moved to ICU.

Got a second doctor to look at the brain scans. We were told that it appears that she has schizophrenia and her brain has shrunk so much that she has the brain of a 75 year old. :(

Most people don't know that Schizophrenia continues to damage ones brain over the course of their life. I'm praying, Michie. First and foremost let us pray that she recovers from this incident. Let us then pray that after recovery this incident and physical proof of the brain scan opens her eyes to the reality of what she suffers from and that she gets treatment. Lord, have mercy.

Thanks for the info. I called ICU and she is awake and aware now but still on a ventilator. I’m going to try to take mom into see her today if she is up to it. I guess her husband has been going through her phone and she has been researching funeral homes for about 2 months. :(

Mental health challenges can be so difficult to live with, both for the afflicted and for those who love them.
Maybe now with more information about her condition, they will be able to help your sister better.
I'm hoping so.

Prayers for all of you.

We went in to see her. I barely recognized her. It was awful. I tried not to cry but I did. :( the ventilator was removed and she was not the same person. Before we came she became irritated and asked her kids to leave. We stopped in after. She was very angry (and I think it was because she was still alive). I handed her a card which she did not open and I asked her if us being there upset her more. She asked if we could leave. So we did. She is in a locked unit in ICU. They may move her to the mental facility tonight. I’ll hear more news later. She looked horrible. Weird movements with her mouth and her words were running together. It was very upsetting. She seems determined not to go into a treatment center and continue on with her plans.

You said they found meth in her system ...
some of the emotional and weird reactions, I highly suspect, may be due to withdrawal symptoms as the meth leaves her system.
(Withdrawal from drugs isn't pretty, for the person withdrawing or for the persons observing it.)

... Maybe your sister will seem better in a few days, when her system gets back to 'her normal'.

If she's adamantly fighting it, your sister may find herself 'restrained' for awhile when moved to the mental facility.
Not a pleasant thought to ponder, but at this point, she needs to be protected from herself.
She's not thinking or acting rationally. She's not capable of it, at this time.

It is by the Grace of God that your sister is still alive.
So then, would seem to me He still has plans for her life ...

... Sorry your family is going thru this.
Notoriously, the holiday season is often a difficult one for persons suffering with mental illness.
Many suicides, and attempts at it, happen during this more emotional season ... unfortunately.

She does not do drugs. She took methadone to kill herself and was almost successful. She is bi-polar and schizophrenic. There is really no cure for schizophrenia and she has never been cooperative when it comes to her treatment plan. Unfortunately. Thank you for the prayers @mourningdove~ . *hugs*

You and your family have my prayers Michie. National Alliance On Mental illness (NAMI) is a good resource for those who are dealing with family members with severe mental illnesses.

She told her husband yesterday she did not want to see him again because she was not going to survive this. She says she is going to hell and God hates her and is making her do this. Said she did not want anyone up. Today she is having us call her on her cellphone in ICU. For some odd reason she thinks she is getting out Monday. She also said she has pneumonia and a weak heart. How true that is about her physical condition, I do not know. Seems she is in and out. Continued prayers appreciated.
