  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Italy had no births for 3 months - zero.

I find this claim of zero births for three months in a country of tens of millions of people to be basically impossible. Please verify it.
The author should have cited sources… Maybe she did but there is a paywall so you can’t see. I just read Italy has several hundred thousand births there every year. I do not understand how this could be possible? I would think this would be a huge story if true.

There was a Catholic chatter or Christian, I wish I remembered the source I was listening to.
WHO SAID.... China is also losing birth rates.
And not because of their 3 child policy in effect now... because they are not even having that many.

It sounds like a error in statistical reporting.
What is possible is that Italy has experienced zero population growth over a three month period.
This would mean there are births, but with the average Italian woman producing 1.24 children, it is easily offset with the mortality rate.

Granted Italy is falling off a demographic cliff, that is NOT zero births in three months.

A very Weekly World News claim by the author. I suspected Bat Boy may of had something to do with it. ;) (I’m joking)!

 Yeah 1.24 in 2021 might have dropped really hard now?

I wish I had the stats for sure.
Nevertheless; I recall Cosmic once posting [and I don't forget who because I was shocked]
that the world over is having less children.

It’s hard to recover from walking off a demographic cliff. Children are a sign of hope for the future. A paucity of children is a sign of hopelessness.

Well, look at the world.
Contraception because they are unwanted.
Abortion - same.
Human trafficking
Raping and discarding children

And the worst is the woke - be a gender you want.
Children are being absolutely corrupted.
As like in the days of S&G

Parents can be same sex, increasing the lifestyle.

Children are a blessing.
People either do not want them, avoid them or just ruin them.

A slow poisoning of society when we allow ruin of children and innocence.

Imagine a city of 10,000 people where they had to close the maternity ward because there were zero births. That is hard to imagine. There would be around 1000 women of childbearing age. Even at one birth per mother there would be an expectation of 50 children born in a year. In a city of a million one would expect at least 5000 born in a year. In a country of 50 million at least 250,000 in a year, or more than 60,000 in six months. Actual birth numbers for last year were 393,000.

Now IF it were true that there were zero births in three months, and that is an almost impossible IF, we would be looking for the why of it. Would it have been the vaccine? Or would it be that everybody just stopped having sex? It would be a major epidemiological 'what happened' question that the medical community would not be able to not obsess about.

Maybe it was zero births in three days, an unlikely possibility, but still possible. Or in three hours.

During the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Northern Italy had a large number of people who got
sick and died. This was because the population in that area of Italy was so low, it was mostly old people
living there. As a result, Italy began a campaign of letting young immigrants from China to live there.
They took on jobs that old people could not do anymore. Any, during the Chinese New Year in February
of that year, many of the immigrants when back to China for the New Year celebration. They returned with
the COVID infection and infected the elderly Italian population. This was the main cause of driving the
COVID infection rate up in that area.

So, yes, Italy has a problem with repopulating itself. I even read about 8 years ago of villages becoming
extinct as a result. However, I doubt that there were zero births in three months.

Also, Japan has a repopulation problem and because of their anti-immigration policies, the population
of native Japanese is in peril. It has much to do with their focus on creating robots to do the mundane
task that they won't have people to do.

Maybe after the birthing boom from 2020 Covid, people refrained from having more and contracepting still.
Most only want 1 maybe 2.
So... though we would see the natural occasion for children if the country decides not to bring children into the craziness [their thinking] they may have increased contracepting and abortion vs trying.

But still there were 393,000 born in I think it was 2022. Italy IS in trouble. They are headed towards a 1.0 figure. I think it is theoretically improbable that they can recover from that if such a number lasts even ten years. It would be severe population collapse and an economic collapse to go along with it.
