  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

After the third day, when Jesus rose again, was his body flesh?

I've seen different beliefs in this teaching. Some say he was flesh and blood again, which I find hard to believe and makes no sense to me, or was he in spirit, which makes more sense.
Jesus resurrected. His dead body came back to life and he walked out of the tomb. But he apparently had supernatural powers as he was able to suddenly appear inside a room with his deciples, even though the door was locked.

Scripture basically tells us that after we die, we will be resurrected with what's called a "glorified body" like Jesus has. We won't be disembodied ghosts floating around. Instead we will have actual physical bodies and will dwell upon the new earth. Instead of us going up to heaven, heaven is going to come down a rest upon the new earth.

So, when we die, we 'sleep'? Then are resurrected onto the 'new earth'? I find sleeping for possibly thousands of years so scary. I was hoping I'd meet Jesus immediately when I died.

There's a lot of debate over whether or not we sleep. And I'm a fence sitter on that one. If we do sleep I'd say when we're awakened it will seem instantaneous. Meaning it will seem like we met Jesus right after death. If we don't sleep, then we probably get the glorified body. But I honestly haven't studied that a whole lot and I can see people who have correcting me on both views with a slew of Bible verses.

What I do know is Jesus was flesh and blood after the resurrection, and that he rose up into haven in that form. So I don't see why we couldn't have a flesh and blood body in Heaven before the new earth is formed. Angels on earth are also described as having physical bodies. Like when a man/angel (who was quite probably Christ) got into a wrestling match with Jacob in Genesis 32:22-31.

I guess you'll have to believe Jesus Christ of Nazareth. He addressed this confusion already. Be blessed.

Now as they said these things, Jesus Himself stood in the midst of them, and said to them, “Peace to you.” 37 But they were terrified and frightened, and supposed they had seen a spirit. 38 And He said to them, “Why are you troubled? And why do doubts arise in your hearts? 39 Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself. Handle Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have.”

Did you see anything in the post about sleep ? I did not.

Did you ever get really really tired, go days without sleep, then sink into a long sleep including deep sleep ?
When you woke up from sleep, did it seem like just a moment had passed by, or like many hours had passed by ?

Did Jesus talk about sleep ? (you likely know He did)

When the believers who lived thousands of years ago are resurrected, to them it is like the twinkling of an eye, an instant, as there is no time in the sleep of death, nor seemingly in the Kingdom to which all are resurrected. So no concern of sleeping thousands of years , no, that is just the world's/ flesh/ time passing, not at all indicative of the spiritual.
The dead know nothing, they cannot praise God nor pray nor remember anything nor see anything nor see anyone. All that sort of thinking is man's traditions or worse. (yes, the parables and stories in the Bible are often twisted to make something that is not, and billions believe the mistakes as if they were true.) .....

So what can you do ?
Simple, as a little child, an infant loved by the Father in heaven, trust Him and learn from Him.
