  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Alabama can prosecute those who help women travel for abortions, state’s AG says

No. Conspiracy to commit an illegal act, in a state where it is illegal.

Abortion is illegal in Alabama; so one can't conspire to commit abortion, while within Alabama's borders.
So you really seem to feel that two people planning a trip to Las Vegas, while living in a state where gambling is illegal, is a conspiracy to commit an illegal crime or should be a crime. Do I understand this correctly?

Where did I say that?

Are you suggesting that it's OK for a group that believes in fidelity in marriage, to fund free trips to U.S. couples to the Philippines, where it is legal to kill your spouse caught in the act of adultery; and then provide the cheated spouse with a gun?

Yah's word prepares us all for the life that he has for us. It's when we transgress his word, that we might not be prepared for the curses that come with that.
No, strongly disagree. It keeps them in fear of people punishing them based on what is said in a book.

Telling them to not do something and not giving them advice on how to not do it.

Post 83.

More broadly, that’s been your argument throughout the thread (and apparently the AG’s argument): that it’s illegal to conspire to cross states lines to engage in an activity that’s legal in the destination but illegal in the jurisdiction where the planning occurred.

It's really very simple. Don't fornicate. It comes with curses.

"How not to do it," LOL!

Alabama bans abortion at any stage of pregnancy. Marshall argued while it’s legal for a woman to travel out of state for an abortion, he suggested groups that help her do so could face prosecution.
Does Alabama think they own the lives of the women who reside in Alabama?

What if a woman goes to another state for a holiday, are they allowed to do this? Are people allowed to help her?
And while she is on holiday, perhaps she takes the opportunity to have an abortion?

What exactly is meant by help? A taxi driver, a bus driver are they liable for transporting women?
When does USA get to the point where women need letters of permission from their male owners for travel?

And you have the right to live by those words, and perhaps try to drill that into your children.
But also others have the right to fornicate as they please and hopefully also the right not to be harrassed.

They don't have a right to offer up their children to Moloch in the State of Alabama.

If the arrangements are being made with the woman, while she is in Alabama then the crime was committed in Alabama.

One can't commit a crime in one state, and then yell "safe;" when he crosses state lines. This is why we have extradition procedures.

But if all of the arrangements are made in a state where abortion is legal, then who can Alabama prosecute? The answer is no one—except the pregnant woman herself. And I can guarantee that you don’t want to go there.

Alabama can prosecute when the arrangements are made in Alabama.

Let's say Joe makes arrangements to transport his adult sister from Alabama to Nevada for an abortion. On that same trip, he arranges to bring his wife along to do some gambling in Vegas.

Both activities are illegal in Alabama, but legal in Nevada. Which, if any, of these arrangements should Joe be prosecuted for?

Very pro life of you to call children curses. And don't give me your "where did I say that" spiel.
