Catholics Only: Are all the fires the First of the Horsemen?

There are wild fires all over the planet.....I was reeling from the Hawaii fires, then its The Canary Islands and today it was Greece.

The verse mentions fires all over....

I'm not a scholar and so I am asking for thoughts on this too.

One of the Horsemen is famine

We are being told that there's going to be more food shortages

We have had massive pestilence

In January 2022 there was a massive undersea volcano near Tonga that spewed lots and lots of boiling water into the stratosphere. Water in gaseous form is a greenhouse gas of great capability. Most volcanoes spew ash, which cools the atmosphere. This one spewed steam. And it went incredibly high. Consequently lots of temperature records were set in the last 18 months. More will be set until that stratospheric water vapor eventually rains out. It could take a few more years to do so.

Fires happen. High temperatures can result in drying, depending. Or more rain in other places. And fires can result. Or odd Pacific hurricanes dropping lots of rain in California deserts. I don't think this is anywhere near what would happen with a horseman of the apocalypse.

We should be chastised. We've earned it. We should see the apocalypse. We have earned it. Maybe it will happen soon. It probably should happen soon given the societal mess. But in my state the rains were bountiful and it looks like there will be a bumper harvest this year. We know all of the media hyped climate stories. But we also have to look around. The signs of the times are not that clear yet.

I wouldn't be shocked by the apocalypse any time soon. We have earned it. If God is just it should happen soon. I just don't see these temperatures and news of fires as evidence of it.

With the latest massive fires now occurring in the Canary Islands off Africa, as well as in Greece where charred bodies are being found, does any one now ponder if we are dealing with the first of the horsemen?

I really don't know. I mean they're an annual occurrence for us, I hate to say it's "normal" now but half my life we've been dealing with them. Increasing in size and quantity year over year. What's definitely not normal for us is a tropical storm blasting half the state and a not-insignificant earthquake hitting all at the same time. That's something that ought to give anyone who's familiar with scripture pause.

Revelation 22:
20 He who testifies to these things says, "Yes, I am coming soon."Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. 21 The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God's people. Amen.


And although the early Church believed He would return in their lifetime, St Peter did explain outside of time ....
1 day to the Lord is like 1000 years to man.

So even though Jesus said he was returning soon, it's in His [lack of] time.
Also Jesus says in 22, THIS prophesy.
Which all must occur before He returns.
