Special counsel Jack Smith has informed former President Donald Trump by letter that he is a target in his investigation into efforts to overturn the 2020 election, sources familiar with the matter tell ABC News.
Trump also confirmed the development in a post on his Truth Social platform.
The letter, which sources said was transmitted to Trump's attorneys in recent days, indicates that yet another indictment of the former president could be imminent -- though it is not immediately clear what kind of charges he could ultimately face.

Next on deck, the Fulton County AG.

There is nothing wrong with trying to "overturn" and election if you are convinced it was not legitimate and you have proof.
If fact I would think it would be the right thing to do.

There was no proof.
Over 60 courts ruled as much...and many more since.
Do you believe in the rule of law (as decided by our courts) or not?

Trump and his allies had their many days in court. No one begrudges him these legal recourses and recounts.

But there is definitely something wrong with signing a document purporting to be the proper electors from a state when you are not, and sending it to Washington DC.

And there is probably something wrong with organizing that effort across multiple states, persuading people to perjure themselves in that way.

Did not stop the Russian collusion hoax.
Reality is, courts make mistakes. Such as:
I am glad to hear you support the courts, as in throwing down Row vs Wade, affirmative action, and illegal gun laws.

yeah almost like how many 1200 Doctors/health professionals saying it was ok to protest.. BLM protest and against police. No way all those Doctors were wrong huh. Now that depends on what side you sit :)

There are nearly 1,770 judgeships authorized across the 209 courts in the federal court system. 94 district courts, 13 circuit courts, and one Supreme Court. So can 60 be wrong? Again depends where you sit.

Not sure why some forget the past. Well not the 1st time ..hmm allot of people stormed a capital (oops). Not the 1st time a person didn't except the out come of some election. President Trump is by far not the worst in this. So even Jan 6th.. kind a hard to over turn something that is not final yet.. odd that gets left out..what do I know

This is silly. We have watched read things about one man for years to only find out it was a lie. All those that took part in that lie what happened? This is where "look over there orange man bad". Again what about all those that also did a crime? "look over there orange man bad". We can keep playing the game but Justice is blind and as Christ said what we sow we will reap.

What happened in the past is happening all over again and the left again is blind. See today it matters not if Trump doesn't wins... the one that wins will still carry out what president Trump would have and will have faith in Jesus Christ.

From JFK Jr about the wall "'make the border impervious' if elected". When even your own side does not like you.. ooh you have to take notice.

Some keep talking about Trump.. praise GOD it keeps him in the now. I have said for years what is known by millions "any press is good press".

+50 State Supreme Courts.

Where I sit, we abide by the decisions of the court. I thought that was the case with most Americans who appreciate our judicial system.

In the Sixty-two cases that had been sought to be brought, in sixty of them plaintiffs lost.
(The mere fact that there are more courts is not a point in your favor).

Michigan Attorney General agrees with me.

Just a related note. From her official government office.

Rome, GA – Incoming Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene released the following statement on today's Electoral College vote in Georgia: "The Republican slate of electors in our great state of Georgia showed unprecedented courage in casting their votes for the rightful winner of Georgia, President Donald Trump.

Narrator: Trump did not win Georgia.

Next on deck, the Fulton County AG.

This means he'll be given a chance to defend himself in front of the Grand Jury and a chance to argue in front of the prosecutor that he shouldn't be charged if the Grand Jury returns an indictment.

In other words, early days.

After he's been charged, and after the indictment has been unsealed, this discussion might get interesting. Until then it's movie critics discussing a movie they haven't seen yet.

Trump said he was asked if he wishes to appear before the grand jury this week — and a Trump advisor said he does not plan to testify.

“Nothing like this has ever happened in our country before or even close,” Trump wrote in a long post in which he called Smith “deranged” and called Attorney General Merrick Garland actions “unethical.”
Yes, nothing like this has ever happened before and if those people that tried it get prosecuted with severe consequences then hopefully nothing like it will ever be attempted again.

The funny thing is, it won't hurt Trump's ability to win votes at all. Seems his supporters don't care if he breaks laws.

Early, but not so early.
Trump has four days to respond, but I think everyone knows he's not going to respond explaining why he shouldn't be charged.
So checks in the mail.

I will await the motion to make the proceedings pay-per-view.

It appears Trump has chosen not to testify.

Late on Wednesday, citing two people familiar with the matter, the Guardian reported that prosecutors had assembled evidence to charge Trump with three crimes.

They were: obstruction of an official proceeding, conspiracy to defraud the United States, and an unusual statute that makes it unlawful to conspire to violate civil rights.

Another step closer to an idictment:

Lawyers for former President Donald J. Trump met on Thursday with officials in the office of the special counsel, Jack Smith, as federal prosecutors edged closer toward bringing an indictment against Mr. Trump in connection with his wide-ranging efforts to overturn the 2020 election, according to three people familiar with the matter.

It was not immediately clear what subjects were discussed at the meeting or if Mr. Smith took part. But similar gatherings are often used by defense lawyers as a last-ditch effort to argue against charges being filed or to convey their version of the facts and the law.

And in true autocrat fashion, Trump pleads not to destroy the country (him):

In a post following the meeting on his social media site, Mr. Trump said that his lawyers had “a productive meeting” with the prosecutors. He said they had explained to Mr. Smith’s team that “I did nothing wrong, was advised by many lawyers, and that an indictment of me would only further destroy our country.”
