  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Glory to God! I wish every state followed! :D
Six weeks?
How will they know that some women aren’t inducing abortions in the 7-12th weeks, when “they’re late”?
A good many fertilized eggs fail to thrive.

Iowa Gov. Reynolds inks six-week abortion ban law and declares that ‘a heartbeat signifies life’

“We have a responsibility not only to protect the unborn but to change the destructive culture of abortion that still exists in a post-Roe world,” Ms. Reynolds said at the Family Leader 2023 summit, which featured several 2024 GOP presidential candidates. “As I pro-life governor I will continue to promote policies designed to surround every person involved in a pregnancy with protection, love and support.”

“Today the most glaring injustice of all is about to be put right,” she said. “Everyone understands that a heartbeat signifies life and we understand when it falls silent something precious has been lost.”

Why even allow six weeks? Is that just to appease some voters? I mean 6 weeks or 0 weeks is effectively the same, a total ban. Many doctors won’t even se a patient that early in pregnancy and many women don’t know that early unless they are hoping to be pregnant.

In 20 years the therapy business I’d going to be booming when all these unwanted children start dealing with their childhood.

Good point. They should have just banned it altogether; but they drew the line at a heartbeat.

Except there is no heart to beat at 6 weeks. A pulse is not necessarily a heartbeat.
One of the milestones of fetal development is when the heart begins to beat. In most cases, an ultrasound can detect the beating of cardiac tissue around weeks five to six, and the heart will form within the next few weeks.

If one is going to set a completely arbitrary time-limit, might as well pin it to some “event” (or other), this “heartbeat” thing fits the bill.
