  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Will Hunter Biden face prostitution-related charges?

Tucked deep within IRS criminal investigators’ testimony about Hunter Biden is the revelation that the Justice Department, in addition to probing tax and gun crimes, was also collecting data to charge the president’s son with transporting prostitutes across state lines.

According to the investigators, who testified as whistleblowers, Hunter Biden regularly flew prostitutes to meet him in California, Boston and the District of Columbia.

Sometimes he flew them in for just a night, and sometimes he paid first class for their trips. He wrote off the costs on his tax forms as business expense deductions.

I think the focus should remain on exploring potential business links to his father. (which I do think are worth looking into)

This "find everything and anything and hope something will stick" is starting to resemble the strategy some democrats use to go after Trump.

Not to mention, one is basically setting themselves up for getting accused of a double standard by going after him for the "unscrupulous sexual encounters" angle.

In fact, I'm surprised nobody has chimed in yet to point out that flying a sex worker on a private jet and paying a sex worker hush money both occupy the same immoral ground.

I think both should be held against them when they run for office.

Which Democrats?

When?
Was there not disproportionate focus on things like a supposed urination tape, dirty comments made on an access Hollywood audio recording, and media outlets basically aggregating everything they could to make him look bad?

And to clarify for the millionth time, I'm not a Trump supporter, voted for Biden specifically to vote against Trump (although if those are our choices again this next time, I'm staying home)

...but I do dislike double standards

And I also dislike this "Throw a million things at the wall and hope or two stick" stye of dirty politics (and it's something I've been critical of when the left-leaning media did it to the Trump family, and when right-leaning media does it to the Biden family).

In the part of my post you opted to omit when you quoted it, I said that this conservative article in the OP was weak attempt at the style of dirty politics I mentioned above, and was a blatant case of a double standard since conservatives have defended Trump amid some of his sexual indiscretions (one of which that involved hush money)

Did you just quote the tiny part of my post that you thought you could pounce on because I'm not a 100% all-in cheerleader for the Democrats and because I'll sometimes acknowledge the fact that on certain things, Republicans can have valid gripes (but that what's covered in this particular article wasn't one of them)?

Maybe it's coincidence, but I notice an increasing trend on here where I can post something that's 80% in agreement with the left, and people will snip it out and try to pounce on the 20% that's not. Is the conformity threshold starting to change? It wasn't long ago that as long as a post was 60/40, it wouldn't hit the alert on the agitation meter.

I don't believe that crimes should be held against only those who run for office; but once in office, I think that they should face greater scrutiny.

He has had federally appointed positions before

He was appointed as an Executive Director at US Department of Commerce under Bill Clinton, and then was appointed to serve on the board of directors of Amtrak.

But that aside, I think a lot of these questions about him surround the possibility that he's not been as "detached" from a public/private conflict of interest standpoint.

(both of which overlapped his tenure at a lobbying firm)

It was just uncovered this week (via a freedom of information act request), that During the Obama administration, Then-VP Biden's aids were cc'ing Hunter on official communications pertaining to Biden's meeting and itinerary with then-president Poroshenko of Ukraine.

I would say on the "involvement spectrum" of Chelsea Clinton <-> Don Jr. ...it's possible that Hunter could be closer to the latter (which is why Don Jr. got scrutinized more than other "first kids" despite not holding an elected position himself)

For instance, to my knowledge, Chelsea Clinton wasn't tagging along on official trips in order to go make private business deals (Don Jr and Hunter both have), and she wasn't out there name-dropping to influence-peddle (like Don Jr and Hunter both have)

Using a parent's "political stroke" for personal gain is is always a bad look when people do it, and not only takes away a person's ability to claim "non-political" status, but also implicates their parents (at least in the eyes of the public) whether they actually had anything to do with it or not.

I’m sure that those of us old enough to remember “Billy Beer” also know that siblings of POTUS can get the magnifying-glass, too.
