  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I go into the parks quite regular and tell people the Gospel. When I do this, I have a script that I have memorised.
Now when it comes to how a person is saved, I have always said this,
"First, you need to believe that Jesus died on the cross for you. That he died in your place for your sins. And then, you need to repent. That is to tell God how sorry you are and then turn from your sins. Don’t be the hypocrite who says he is a changed man but then continues in his sin. If you do this, and you truly mean it, God can wash you clean and grant you everlasting life as a free gift."

I realise that if you have a true belief in God, that he died in your place for your sins, then you will also naturally honour Him. But I was thinking, should I add that we should always put God first? If so, this would be the wording: (extra in bold)

"First, you need to believe that Jesus died on the cross for you. That he died in your place for your sins. And then, you need to repent. That is to tell God how sorry you are and then turn from your sins. Don’t be the hypocrite who says he is a changed man but then continues in his sin. Lastly, always put God first in everything you do. Honour Him with your life. If you do this, and you truly mean it, God can wash you clean and grant you everlasting life as a free gift."

So, do I add the bold that we should put God first or not?
Personally, I think so but what are your thoughts.

I think it is fine to say that. Even if it could be misunderstood the Holy Spirit can speak the truth of it to the person. We do need to be putting Jesus first.

Mat 10:37 He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.

Although the Bible does not speak a lot about putting Jesus first, it speaks about putting faith in Jesus and departing from sin. As Jesus said He who loves me will keep my commandments. Our love for God is technically keeping His word, not perfection in placing him above everything else. However, that said we still should be putting God first.

That is what I was thinking.
I will add it. Cheers

I don't think you can go wrong with adding that. Jesus is our cornerstone, so everything we do should be in alignment with Him.

Keep at it!

Tell them to obey John 3:5 and Acts 2:38 !!
