  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Prayer for Critical US Supreme Court Case

The US supreme Court will be releasing several more decisions by the end of June and possibly early July. A critical case is 303 Creative v. Elenis. I am requesting prayer for a decision extraordinarily in favor of Lorie Smith, and by extension, the Church of God.

“Lorie Smith, the graphic artist and web designer who owns 303 Creative in Colorado, is asking the U.S. Supreme Court to uphold free speech.”

“Lorie is an artist who specializes in custom graphic and website design and loves to visually convey messages in every site she creates. She started 303 Creative to promote causes consistent with her beliefs and close to her heart through her art. Lorie wants to celebrate marriages between one man and one woman, but she soon learned that a Colorado law would force her to create messages that conflict with her beliefs. On December 5, 2022, Lorie asked the Supreme Court to protect her—and every American’s—right to say what she believes.

Lorie Smith runs a studio called 303 Creative in Colorado that designs and publishes websites for individuals, businesses, churches, charities, and numerous others. Lorie loves the work she does and puts her heart into every design.

Lorie’s free speech rights as an artist give her not only the right to speak but also the right not to speak. Free speech is for everyone, not just those who agree with the government.

It is long past due for creative professionals and artists such as Lorie to stop living under the threat of compelled speech and government coercion.”

We definitely must keep this in prayer. Also let us remember the Cake Maker prevailed with the supreme Court and perhaps this woman will do likewise, the cases are similar.

Christians are now paying for years of silence. I can remember almost 25 years ago when I entered full-time ministry God showing me where the Body of Christ was going and urging me to fight against it, which I did. However, the passivity, the apathy, the fear, and more than anything the silence of Christians in this country, speaking of America, has now cost us almost all of our rights. Every group, is well protected by our country but Christians have very little protection anymore in our country. Every group falls under the woke banner and you best not say anything contrary to their beliefs, that is every group except the Christians. If Christians say or do something that you don't like our twisted society seems to believe it's okay to sue them, harass them, even become violent towards them....

The irony is that all of these groups who demanded their rights because they said Christians and other Americans, other groups, were intolerant towards them have become the most heinous intolerant people on the planet. And sadly, 99% of Christians are scared to death to say so.

Thank you for your post and the many good points you raise. Goes withut saying that we have to pray for boldness in the body of Christ. Even the Apostle Paul requested prayer for boldness (Ephesians 6:19).

Consder the impact of an escatological model that has encouraged apathy and passivity by eroneously claiming enevitable delcine as a preconditoin to the 1 Thess. Rapture Event. Why pray for improvement if the decline you speak of was biblicaly certain or madated in some way as so many over the last 90 years or so have falsley maintained? But does not historical societal improvement (like under John Wesley and the Clapham Sect) demonstrate otherwise? The current poplular eschatology within evangelicanism is killing the Churche's effectiveness. The moral decline in recent generations is in fact largley the fault of the Church, not the Godless or some biblical mandate or prescription or proscription of certainty. As the Salt and Light of the earth, it is the Churches responsiblity to bring about positve change. All Scripture referencing moral decline that is certain to occur (Matt. 24:12) has either been misinterpreted or applied to the wrong time period. Such references do not apply to the here and now.

I saw a saying on a church sign a few months ago. It read,

"Normal is never coming back, Jesus is."

Part of me was disgusted by the sign because I had encountered so many attitudes like that. Is Jesus coming back one day? Yes, of course and I look forward to it! But this statement was more of a cop out, and excuse, for saying and doing absolutely nothing.

Where is the courage of the Peters, the Pauls, the Isaiahs, etc...

One of our deepest mistakes years ago as the Body of Christ was when the woke type persecution or the politically correct persecution began we, meaning the Body of Christ as a whole, did not stick out our necks to stand beside and protect the individual(s) who were being persecuted strictly for pointing out what the Word of God says. I wrote a message many years ago to the Body of Christ, which was distributed far and wide and has been redistributed in recent years, and in this message one of the things that God gave me to point out was that if we did not stick together they would peck us off one by one, and that is exactly what they are doing. And when they peck one or two off, they silence thousands.

How sad that there are so few truly godly strong Christians anymore, who will actually stand up for, and put their life on the line for, Biblical Truth.
