He suing because Cohen said nice things about him, and then mean things about him while breaking his NDA.
I mean if your cooperating with the FBI, you can kiss that NDA goodbye.

“You can’t testify against me because it’ll cost ya!”

Using the Courts to intimidate a witness?

Stunning.
Is that so, what about a case so weak that the star witness served time in prison for lying to Congress as well as other illegal acts. Going after a former president, for political purposes and to fulfill a canpaign promise, with a case that has no chance of holding up, NOW that is Stunning

They want to question Cohen under oath. His previous plea bargain will play a big factor in it.
Yeah, but the sword cuts both ways - Trump will also be questioned under oath.

Wow if Cohen is the Key Witness the case will blow up upon examination by a defense attorney.
Not really as Mr. Cohen had the foresight to know whom he was dealing with and took precautions such as recording and paperwork. You're correct that his unsupported, raw testimony would be questionable, but reportedly he has support to prove his contentions.

If the star witness conspired with the defendant and has already served his time so he is not testifying for leniency or any other favor, it many not be as vulnerable as you think.

one thing for certain he is not going to be as creditable as some might hope. He is going to get sliced and diced on cross examination

There is more evidence that just Cohen. Keep in mind the whole scheme. There is a paper trail. They have Trump's falsified documents. There are other people aware of the scheme, and they were brought in for interviews.

He went to prison for committing the crime that the crimes Trump has been charged with were meant to cover up. So, he’s a “expert witness” in that case.

Any and all of those things are subject to validation as well as questioning the intent of those communications, this is a weak case at best, can they get a conviction? Well it is NY and Trump is about as unpopular there as anyone can possibly be so maybe.

And since Trump allowed him to go to prison when he could have pardoned him, he is also a biased witness, he has a score to settle with Trump which in addition to his well established reputation for not telling the truth makes him a very poor witness. He just has little to no credibility.

Well yeah. The records are Trump's. The records are Cohen's. The recording is of Trump and Cohen. Can't get more validity than that.
And yes, Trump is extremely popular in NY. NewYorkers were even crying and apologizing at his indictment for the way he is being treated.

I’m sure a competent defense attorney will advise the jury of Mr Cohen’s “motives”, during cross-examination, yes.
Bragg’s office already thought this through, they think they they have enough so that even if Cohen is a bad witness for the prosecution; they’ve “got enough” to secure a conviction even without any of Cohen’s testimony.
That’s why even if they totally impeach (ahem) Cohen’s testimony, it ultimately doesn’t matter.

Maybe, he’s a pretty articulate lawyer, ex-lawyer. It should be interesting. Too bad it won’t be televised.

Trump sued Michael Cohen for $500 million. Now he's worried he's at "risk of self-incrimination"

According to Bloomberg, Trump, who is expected to appear in court Thursday in connection to his latest indictment, argued in a Wednesday court filing that the documents Cohen requested, particularly the financial records of the Trump organization, should be protected with a confidentiality order as his other criminal cases progress.

[Trump lawyer]: "The existence of the criminal proceedings currently ongoing against the Plaintiff establishes 'good cause' for the entry of the confidentiality order due to the risk of self-incrimination."

[Cohen (paraphrased (not much))]: "You shoulda thoughta that before suing me."
