So many categories on this forum but strange that I can't seem to find one where Easter would fit.

With Palm Sunday coming, here is an article on a topic all ought to be familiar with because there is a tradition that dies hard that has no place in the Bible. Holy Week, Beware Idle Conjecture

It was explained to me the reason it was a different crowd is that the Palm Sunday event happened in a poorer area of town that would’ve been more receptive to Jesus’s message. In a big city, it’s not out of the question one crowd would be in one section, another crowd would be in another.

It seems Jesus’s arrest happened out of nowhere in the middle of the night. A crowd of Jesus’s backers simply wouldn’t have had time to assemble, & the Jewish authority had been plotting for a while, as the article brings up. I wouldn’t be surprised if many of his followers thought they weren’t needed b/c if he was the King they thought he would be, he’d have no trouble resisting the Jewish authorities.

Could there even have been some Jews in the crowd shouting ‘crucify him’ shouting the opposite? I don’t think that’s unreasonable. The point is that they decided he should be crucified, not to give a person-by-person in the crowd account of what they thought.

As per Scripture, the article lays it out clearly, the 'Palm Sunday' event was on a road outside the city as pilgrims were coming for Passover. See the map, "Bethphage"- Matt. 21 " Now when they drew near Jerusalem, and came to Bethphage, at the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples, saying to them, “Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey..."

…the whole crowd of the disciples began…shouting:
‘BLESSED IS THE KING WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD…’” (Luke 19:37f).

I am greatly looking forward to Palm Sunday, we are going to have a live donkey and small reenactment for the kids (outside of course).
