DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Iran and Saudi Arabia on Friday agreed to reestablish diplomatic relations and reopen embassies after years of tensions between the two countries, including a devastating attack on the heart of the kingdom's oil production attributed to Tehran.

The deal, struck in Beijing this week amid its ceremonial National People's Congress, represents a major diplomatic victory for the Chinese as Gulf states perceive the United States slowly withdrawing from the wider Middle East. It also comes as diplomats have been trying to end a yearslong war in Yemen, a conflict in which both Iran and Saudi Arabia are deeply entrenched.

One of our largest enemies, just accomplished a peace treaty with the world's largest producers of oil.

We had a treaty with Iran. Trump scrapped it. Between that and the rest of our colorful history with them, I can’t imagine why they didn’t come to us to broker it.

Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin emerged from two days of talks on Tuesday with warm words of friendship between China and Russia and joint criticism of the West, but no sign of a diplomatic breakthrough over Ukraine.

Putin and Xi are now dear friends - China and Russia have formed an allegiance and brought in Iran. All three enemies of the US.

IMHO - Biden is quickly becoming a persona non grata in the world. First, neither Russia nor China will even pick up the phone when Biden calls - now this.

Xi's visit is a boost to Moscow as it struggles to make ground in its year-long war on Ukraine. It was criticised by Washington as providing "diplomatic cover" for Putin and for the war that has killed tens of thousands of people.

Between the three - they control the vast majority of global oil - and Joe sits back and says - well it's just a political ploy. bad Russia - bad China - you are very naughty!

I believe it is called international diplomacy - something other than an after the fact - oh, that's naughty.

It is proving Obama's Secretary correct:

Biden has been wrong on every major foreign policy decision in last 4 decades

Iran-Russia-China produce about 1/4 of world oil (2021 data). 1/4 is hardly a majority (it's only half way there) and most certainly not a "vast majority" however your would define that.

Thanks to Biden's leadership in rallying NATO, Putin has to beg China for arms and other support.

When the current US prez was vice prez, Russian aggression against Ukraine started. During the Trump administration Russian aggression stagnated and President Zelensky was elected in Ukraine. Under the current US prez, Putin has resumed his aggression with thousands of lives lost and millions of refugees.

Let us not forget the Arab Spring debacle and the growth of ISIS ( from mere “junior varsity” status) when the current prez was vice prez. Let us also not forget Iranian drones to Putin from Iran the reliable nuclear agreement partner.
