It's a good reminder that even the democratic party as a whole really, when it comes down to it, not interested in workers EITHER; not if it comes at the expense of corporate profit.

There are a FEW individuals in Government who do seem to be concerned with the common person: Bernie Sanders, AOC (to some extent). Are there some Republicans who consistently vote for things that support workers (and not "taxpayers")?

It seems perverse that the company could get off without punishment for this accident. If you dump paint down the drain, you can get a 5000 fine....and that is NOTHING compared to what happenned.

The terrifying reality is that they're all the same. Despite all of the bloviating from politicians, not one of them is on your side or cares one whit about you. If they can toss you a bone every once in a while they will so long as it doesn't detract from their real pursuit of power and money. But as soon as either one of those things is threatened, your wellbeing is at the very bottom of their list.

I DO think there are individuals who DO care....but yeah....on the whole, your government has 0 interest in your well being and all interest in corporatism.

I did ask that question hoping for a response though: Is there a Republican lawmaker who consistently and clearly IS fighting for the American worker?

Do you think in time there's gonna be a ....."reaction" from the populace?

I suspect that whatever politician, regardless of their political affiliation, that thinks they can use this tragedy for their own political benefit will be the one that speaks up. Politicians are nothing if not opportunists.

There's already a reaction from the people. I live just 50 miles from the train derailment, so I hear about it on the local news constantly. Whether or not that will amount to anything remains to be seen.

I'll let the legal folks sort out the juris-my-diction stuff, but it does sound odd that a Virginia resident can sue a Virginia company for something that happened in Virginia (and Ohio) in a Pennsylvania court.

Just intuitively the Solicitor Generals argument is kind of weak. It's really an uphill argument that which state a claim can and can not be filed would affect international trade. The article doesn't point out what Federal Statue is being questioned as far as I can tell. The thing here is the unfortunate worker lived in Virginia, the same state where the company resides, but chose to file in Pennsylvania because as his lawyer noted; basically they were court shopping. If I am understanding the case.

Americans don’t know what a general strike is and wouldn’t know how to accomplish one.

I do pray you all get the treatment you need - so far it's been ridiculous, sadly.

I'm also writing my own congressman, hopefully something positive for everyone there happens quickly.

Corporations run most political candidates. Thet's how they get the money to run those ads. Both sides do it.
