I am a 63 year old man, was baptized early in life and have always talked with God. I was married for 26 years and have been divorced for eleven. I drank before I met my wife and when we got married, I quit. I quit completely and never even had a single beer for 26 years. Since my divorce, I started with the alcogol again and now I am a full blown alcoholic. I am killing my self and have tried everything and cannot quit.
I have called out to God to help me, but there is something I am missing. I deperately need to quit this madness, but do not know where to turn next. I have tried AA and I get hooked up with stalkers. I am asking that you please pray for me, I am trying every day.

Goodbye. This site is a cluster you know what. Too difficult to navigate. I will keep looking for help, but not here.

Never in my life have I seen a site so totally consumed with advertisements and trying to make money under the guise of trying to help people. It totally overwhelms trying to help anyone. I would not recommend this site to anyone, this site is nothing but grubbing for money. It really is pathetic.

Hang on a second ….

As an alcoholic in recovery myself, I’ll just bet you were drinking last night when you posted this. I get it. I know exactly how you feel. It feels hopeless. But you can’t give up. Pray all you want (I did too) but God is not going to flip the alcohol off switch without any effort on your part.

If you’ve been on a bender you may need to go to a detox and safely get off alcohol. It’s free in most cities. Then get back to AA immediately. If you last group wasn’t a good one, find another. They’re out there.

Surrender 100% to God. Surrender 100% that you are an alcoholic and can’t stop on your own. With God and AA you can. If you had a broken leg you can’t just pray it away. You need God, prayer, and an orthopedic surgeon (which God has made available). It’s the same way with recovery. Prayer alone won’t do it. I guarantee you that you can find a Christian brother in AA who will guide and sponsor you … if you look for it.

I wanted to give up. I understand. But God sent a Christian brother who wouldn’t let me. Don’t give up. And don’t get too down on the people on this site. It has its share of nut cases, but it also has plenty of true Christians who care and who will pray for you. I will too.

Hi Rich;
welcome to CF; May the Lord Jesus guide you here as well as in the world; and may you find friends and what ever you need from the Lord here.

I do have a question for you; do you like music--Praise & Worship music?

I have found; in times of trouble; like we have with this CV-19; that listening to; and singing along to good Christian P&W music; can bring us closer to Jesus and His wonderful peace.

Well we have a new forum here at CF just for P&W music and at the top is a directory of other Christian music threads around CF; come and take a look!:wave:
