10 Texas pastors have been charged with sexually abusing children this year

This year [2022], at least 10 Texas pastors, former pastors and youth ministers were arrested, charged or convicted for various allegations of sexual abuse of children.

The cases reported so far are limited to the charges brought forward this year, and to the state of Texas. By expanding the search further back in time or beyond Texas' borders, the list would grow much longer than the one compiled in this article.

In May, a document released by the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) revealed the case of more than 700 Baptist leaders—including pastors, teachers, ministers and volunteers—accused or found guilty of sexual abuse of children.

The 205-page document, which looks at cases dating back to a period between 2000 and 2009, details the arrests and—sometimes—sentencing of Baptist leaders found guilty of sexual assaults, soliciting children, child inappropriate contentography and more. According to SBC, the list is the result of an internal investigation by Guidepost Solutions aimed at uncovering the cover-ups of cases of sexual assaults which were allegedly kept quiet by the church's higher-ups.

It might be noted that not a single child in Texas was assaulted by a drag queen last year.

Praise God for sharing this having us pray for him. Jesus that came into this world and died for the worlds sin. For God so loved this world He gave His only son that who so ever believes in Him shall have ever lasting life. So awesome wonderful God put atheist here to hear how much He loves them. The fact they are still here hearing the good news. Something He is doing they just want to hear more of and don't even know it.

"It might be noted that not a single child in Texas was assaulted by a drag queen last year." Confused why did you post this part? "Proposes Ban on Minors Attending Drag Shows, Citing Viral Video of Kids Throwing Money at Drag Queens in Dallas Bar" also "“He took him to a drag show when he was underage and it was really bad. It was a really bad experience. He also put him next to this sex offender when he was out there with my son,” the parent said at the meeting." also "it’s been well publicized that the Houston Public Library in Texas hosted two registered sex offenders for Drag Queen Story Hour" <-granted the Library didn't do back ground checks they normal don't. "An undercover journalist recently uncovered footage of a drag show in Grand Prairie, Texas, outside of Dallas, which…".

Anyway this was just Texas and not going back years. Thank you I didn't know this much was going on just in Texas with drag queens

Dear Qanon and GOPers, if grooming is your dire concern, well, here it is. And like it seems with every large religious group that has come out here lately to confess their rampant sexual abuse of children and how they plan to address it, it appears they were successful at it.

Yes this is a concern for sure. ALL grooming no matter who it's done by is concerning. Drag queens have assault d kids, A gay couple adopted boys and then proceeded to sexually assault them.

Yes it's ALL horrific.

But don't forget that grooming concerns in school is not limited to pedophile behaviors. Never has been.

These people, no matter who they are or what church they belong to should pay the full penalties provided by law imo. There is zero excuse for this. It's disgusting and abhorrent.

Sexual assault of minors is on an individual basis, for each case, and for each perpetrator.

Attaching drag queens or churches to these crimes is seriously misguided. This is a ridiculous fight.

No, it's really not. When the hierarchy of a body sweeps incidents under the rug and moves alleged perpetrators onto a new community, the church itself becomes complicit in abuse. Hopefully, most churches have learned their lessons, but only time will tell.

You're wrong. When a *person* sweeps illegal incidents under the rug, then that *person* is complicit in a crime. When you blame me, and my entire family, as members of a certain Church, you are being misguided.

In the same way, when you say drag queens are most likely child molesters, you are misguided and using the sweeping generalization fallacy.

It's all ridiculous.

Besides, under this ridiculous pretence, one could say that Episcopalians are a group that one needs to watch around their children. Nobody should believe that. It's a bias.

Or by any Nazi Eskimos either.

I completely agree, stereotyping these individuals accomplishes nothing and by doing so we could arrive at all sorts of ridiculous assumptions and accusations like for example Americans are pedofiles or even human beings are pedofiles.

I don’t see a single example of this in the article. The article does however mention that one of the pastors was immediately terminated from his position by his church. The others don’t actually say one way or the other.

The article doesn’t mention any of these pastors being sent to a different location or anything about a church doing anything that could be considered as “sweeping it under a rug”. It does mention that one of the churches immediately terminated one of the pastors.

"Allegedly kept quiet by church higher-ups" I am just saying that while these may be individual transgressions, our wider church leaderships must be more proactive at doing an ethical job of policing their clergy and volunteers to ensure it doesn't happen again with the perpetrator left in place or just moved along to some other parish. Like it or not, there are too many instances where church leaders failed to adequately protect their parishioners. And, that's a shame.
