This just goes to show how bad faith actors inevitably turn in each other.

It would seem as if (purely from a business perspective) Crowder is the only bad faith actor on this one.

The details of the contract offer that were released were more than fair in terms of compensation:
"You get 50 million over 4 years, and additional 25 million if you opt to sign a 2-year extension"

...and completely reasonable in terms of the stipulations:
"If you do anything that gets you or our brand demonetized on the platforms that our sources of revenue, or costs us advertiser dollars, that comes out of your pocket"

Crowder portrayed the offer as a "slave contract", and claimed that the stipulations were a case of the Daily Wire "shilling for big tech and liberal establishment". (which if you're familiar with the content the DW puts out, specifically the stuff from Candace Owens or Matt Walsh...that's clearly not the case)

So, while I liked Crowder's show better (not so much because of him, although his impressions are pretty good, but because Dave Landau is a great stand up comic who I enjoyed long before he joined the show and his humor is what made the show IMO), he's in the wrong on this one (especially by recording a private conversation without consent, and then releasing it without permission)

Their dispute is akin to two rats fighting over a urinal soap cake in a drain.

Not overly surprising given how the party is going through an identity crises.

There's definitely is a fracturing of the party and identity crisis, but I don't know that Shapiro and Crowder were that far apart in terms of policy. Apart from gay marriage and marijuana, they're pretty much in-line with each other on everything else.

This seems more like a combination of greed and "overestimating one's own worth".

I think a $50 million deal was more that generous considering that Crowder has been recently having Alex Jones on his show quite a bit, and Daily Wire guys (despite being very conservative) aren't necessarily huge fans of the alt-right and Jones has attacked Shapiro on a number of occasions.

So is there any level or degree of conservatism that you wouldn't equate to a "rat"?

...and I don't think they're necessarily "fighting over" a prize of some sort. From my understanding, the Daily Wire is doing just fine and already have "the prize" in terms of money... Crowder had a falling out with Glenn Beck's "The Blaze", and solicited an offer from the only other conservative media company that he thought could offer the kinds of numbers he was looking for, and turned hostile when they wouldn't give him the $40 million per year he was asking for.

Candace Owens enters the chat

“Sometimes people need a prayer. Sometimes people need a scripture. Steven [Crowder] purports to be a Christian, and I believe that he needs to lean into his faith,” Owens said, alluding to some deeper, embarrassing demons Crowder is facing.

“And I am certain that in the near future, more information will come out. I do not think it is my place to say more than that. Well, probably what I should say is I am unsure at this moment if if it is my place to say more than that. You know, maybe if I feel in further defense some things should be said, or maybe if I feel that the public has a right to understand certain circumstances. But at this moment, I think I would just like to carefully back out,” Owens concluded

Half of his former cast/crew jumped ship and went with Dave Landau (a stand-up comedian) to form a new sketch comedy show / podcast called "Normal World" that's being hosted on Glenn Beck's network.

At first I was worried that being on a conservative network (that definitely has some religious ties), it would force Dave to "tone it down" to a PG level, but I watched/listened to a few episodes, and it would appear (to my surprise) Glenn is letting him say/do whatever he wants on there.

It's R-rated comedy, it's funny & edgy, and takes swipes at both sides of the political aisle.
