We are told to rest from our works just like God did from His on the seventh day. Hebrews 4:4 And God rested on the seventh day from all His works Hebrews 4:10 For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His. (on the seventh day as shown) Jesus is not the Sabbath- sad this is a popular teaching that is not written in God's Word.

Christians are free to regularly assemble on whatever day they choose, which since the time of the apostles has been the day of Jesus' resurrection, the first day of the week.
