Why call for police if he was working on the line peacefully? They could have kept an eye on him, paid him at the end of the day, and then not let him back in the building the next day.

This shows mismanagement and iimpatience from management at the company.

From what I understood from the article, they fired him then told him to finish out the day. Now, imho, when you fire someone you don't send the back to work and then call the cops to escort them away.
