Is my wife off the hook from her Sunday obligation for the time being?

Since the baby's only 12 days old and she's still sorta recovering from both a c-section and having an ovary removed is she relieved of her Sunday obligation? I knew she was last week but this week I thought she might try to go, I would just go earlier and then I could stay home with the baby and she could go but she declined and said she wasn't feeling well and she would just stream it at home.

I don't want to push her but I also don't want to give her so much leniency that she commits a sin by missing Mass when she shouldn't.

No please let her rest, her obligations for now is to be healthy and rest! let her decide without any pressure from anyone when she is ready. she will let you know.

The lord made the sabbath for man as a day of rest. see mark 2:27

No she is definitely off the hook until she fully recovers. The Church will tell you the same. Let her get feeling back to normal before she resumes Mass. She can watch it on TV in the meantime.

You could ask that the priest or a deacon or someone else come and visit and bring her the Eucharist.

No moving around after major surgery is excusable, especially since it is critical.
I forget the number of weeks but your Dr told you....

Go, my Angel Guardian dear,
To church for me, -----the Mass to hear.
Go, kneel devoutly at my place
And treasure for me every grace.
At the Offertory time
Please offer me to God Divine.
All I have and all I am,
Present it with the Precious Lamb.
Adore for me the great Oblation.
Pray for all I hold most dear
Be they far or be they near.
Rmember too, my own dear dead
For whom Christ's Precious Blood was shed.
And at Communion bring to me
Christ's Flesh and Blood, my food to be.
To give me strength and holy grace
A pledge to see Him face to face
And when the Holy Mass is done
Then with His blessing, come back home.

From a C-section:

Start walking again - 10 days.
Going outside the home - 14 days.
Being healed 6 weeks.

And women are advised to not tough it out and push the parameters.
Perhaps this week she can go to daily Mass during the week depending on Dr's sound advice. Call them tomorrow.

I am not a Doctor and cannot give advice outside of the advice online .....

She had an ovary removed as well. She had a bit of a tough pregnancy as well. She definitely needs to fully recover before resuming life as normal. In the meantime, she can watch Mass on tv and have the Eucharist brought to her at home if she desires that. As my priest told me, it is not a sin to take care of yourself and your family. I just think it’s a good idea not to rush her.

That sounds about right, she's slightly ahead of schedule cause she's been walking around for a bit and she's made a couple trips outside the home to doctors appointments for her and the baby. But otherwise that sounds about right.

Taking care of a new baby is difficult too on top of everything else. I guess my concern is her feeling pressured. Her hormones are a mess right now I’m sure. JMO

Removing an ovary too. So IDk .

I'm sure the Lord knows her heart. It's always the heart and our love for Him He seeks most.
God bless you both and enjoy the little nugget.

I had some time out too from babies. Ya love the Lord and want to go, but you also cannot do much more than rest. [Or collapse or pop a stich or bleed out etc etc]
