So here's the actual std map by state.

std-state-map-2022.jpeg.jpg

I had known for some time Nevada and California are pretty rampant so a map showing them devoid is clearly bogus.

What we have here is some good old fashioned fake news. I suspect conclusions were meant to be inferred....but thankfully, we aren't all so easily taken.

I notice that correlation is not causation.
Correction - correlation may not indicate causation but it doesn't discount that causation may exist

As an initial piece of data, a correlation should lead to the possibility that further investigation is warranted.

Which correlations concern you. Mine is everything connected to education.
Pretty picture:

Baptist are Protestants - so why the two

Quality looks like a middle schooler did it.

But the picture of the Wookie was interesting. But there is quite a bit of obscenity there also.

It concerns me that it looks like things head south the more anyone heads South.

But this is old news in the U.S. It's very old news. Like, very, very old news.

I guess it also means I should move to Canada rather than to Mexico? ^_^

I'm happy to show stats of the South being a low performer all around if you like. But when I've put up that information in other threads, folks on the right have generally just ignored it.

And yet.... how do you reconcile that people are migrating to those area's that are such 'low performers'?

What's to reconcile? It makes complete sense. Because "housing is cheap" and they have no where else in the US they can afford to live. That doesn't make the destination better; just the desperation that high. Hopefully the influx of new citizens will be willing to hold their elected officials to a standard that will create a better opportunities and supports for everyone around them, instead of buying into it.
I would also bet those people coming are often higher educated.

Yeah....across the whole forum. Not a huge fan of that feature...
You can remove it.

Where exactly are these images from and why should we trust them? I notice that the map Ana the Ist posted showed STDs and diabetes differently from the map you did (to be fair, yours said "venereal disease" and his said "STDs" so perhaps the other STDs were more common in the other states). So whose chart should be trusted?

But let's show another map, which may make some people a little uncomfortable when viewed in conjunction with the maps you showed. The key is unfortunately not in the image itself (one can find it on the page though, Six maps that reveal America’s expanding racial diversity) but it's based om places that have a high presence of racial minorities.
Brown: Blacks
Blue: Asians, Native Hawaiians, an d Other Pacific Islanders
Light blue: American Indians/Alaska Natives
Green: Hispanics
Light green: Two or more minorities
White: No minority is highly represented

So here we go:

20190905_Metro_Frey_Maps.png

One notices the interesting fact that the "bad" maps you posted correspond rather strongly to where we see racial minorities being prominent, especially blacks.

Indeed, it seems that a white supremacist could quite happily use your charts to prove their claims of non-white people, particularly blacks, being inferior. But I have the feeling that you (and presumably whoever made that image to begin with) would disagree on that.

Disclaimer: I'm not a white supremacist. Just pointing out how easily a white supremacist could turn the argument around and use it to support their beliefs.

It actually is a good indicator of how racist policies (or policies that started out as racist and migrated to being merely classist) have shaped certain aspects of American society.
