First, I believe Jesus was raised from the dead, so don't take me the wrong way.
But, what about the women? One of the earliest, if not the earliest, counters to Christianity was that the disciples stole the body (Matt 28:13). Why can't the women be the culprits...nobody ever considers them? They were present at the scene and certainly had the motive - Jesus had welcomed the marginalized including women and given them a "seat at the table" so to say. They didn't want the movement to end and would go to any lengths to see it continue. Mark 16:3 seems to say they couldn't roll away the stone though....but doth Mark protest too much? Maybe they knew good and well a few of them could roll the stone (taking care of the dead was not exactly something new or unheard of), and so they did and hid his body elsewhere.
Matthew doth protest a little too much too, no? The women couldn't have done it. There were guards at the tomb. Women aren't overcoming Roman guards, for sure.
And in Luke, there's no need for the women to roll away the stone, for it had already been rolled away.
Just playing bad guy for a second. I don't accept my own suggestion here because I don't really know people's motives or capabilities. I only have the data I have. I actually assume Mark, Matthew, and Luke's intentions are good and honest.
