You know it is easier to say you are sorry than it is to do the right thing. I am sure they got what they wanted, or something that they can twist to look like Trump did something wrong.
Same kind of thing law enforcement does all the time. Find a bogus reason to conduct an illegal search, find a sympathetic judge to sign the warrant, and have at it. Happens all the time.

I don't think any twisting is needed. Holding secret and sensitive documents that should be in the hands of the appropriate government agencies is illegal. Why he had them is a big question to me.
