Hi I assume that if Adam and Eve didn't cut their hair it would get really long - and Adam would also have a long beard. Do you think they would have cut their hair and if so what could they use to cut it? I was wondering about that.

I presume they would use whatever Native Americans and tribal people around the world do for this stuff.

How Indians Cut their Hair: Dr. Quinn Times
"For plucking out hair the Indians had tweezers of wood or pinchers made by the shell of a fresh-water mussel"
"True cutting, or rather shaving, was done by means of flint or obsidian (volcanic glass) knives and razors"

The thing is Native Americans had passed down those techniques to their descendants.... so I guess Adam and Eve would need to discover those techniques for themselves... And they might not think long hair is a problem and so not look for methods for cutting their hair....

Yeah their hair and beards might usually stop growing after a couple of feet....

No sir...I've seen a picture of a native man with hair 6' long. I myself have let my hair grow (in the past) to over 3' long. And check with the Sics, they never cut their hair.

Interesting...
Kesh (Sikhism) - Wikipedia
"...In Sikhism, kesh (sometimes kes) is the practice of allowing one's hair to grow naturally out of respect for the perfection of God's creation..."
Though I don't think they're talking about the Christian God.

Are we talking about before the fall or after? :)

Even though they were only in the garden for a few days I was assuming that they would have still been in the garden rather than farming, etc.

Interesting idea! I never thought about it. My guess is that they would just let it grow and maybe found a way to tie it up out of the way till they figured out that they even COULD cut it then figured out how. Yeah Adam must have had a lot of hair on his face. :)

This brings up an interesting question. I've never thought about how long they were in the garden before they sinned and were cast out of it. Was it days, weeks, months or years?

Deductive[?] reasoning says that they fell before her first ovulation* (which is required for even a healthy woman to conceive).
  1. God told them to reproduce, and blessed them to do so, right away [Genesis 1:28].
  2. She did not conceive until after the Fall [Genesis 4:1].
*By contemporary standards, that can be up to one month.

This is somewhat related — When I was younger, I used to think of Adam and Eve as essentially ignorant and naive cavepeople, but that's not the image Scriptures provide us with. In fact, I would argue that the most sophisticated people to ever exist are Adam and Eve, and all humans afterwards, though we have progressed in many ways, in terms of wisdom, intelligence, and health, have deteriorated. Adam and Eve knew God, and they knew His creation and how things originally functioned and the use and purpose of things. It's not surprising then, that in the generations that followed, we see some great inventions being made. They built cities and invented instruments.

So, with this in mind, if I had to speculate, I think Adam and Eve would have had some very sophisticated means to do things like cut their hair etc.

As a sidenote, if we can appreciate how sophisticated Adam and Eve were, I think we can better the complexity and severity of the fall. That is, we, the human race, even at the height of our intelligence, still fell into sin. We see this again with Solomon, the wisest man, who was still subject to sin. But like Adam and Eve, and Solomon, we can rejoice in and take comfort in Christ, who bore our sins and restores us to God.

That theory makes sense. However I wonder if they had the same physiology we are familiar with, considering Adam lived to be 930 years old. He was 130 when Seth was born.
