That's ok. You'll learn about other's viewpoints. That is, other people's viewpoints. That's a little different than unicorns and decepticons.
But it's pointless. Why would I only want to know other opinions? ESPECIALLY if those opinions are based on nonsense?

Why do you say "only"? I never claimed that discussions were only about opinions.
If you're interested in just the facts and science about everything, a discussion forum is not the best place to find them. Log in to a government website with charts and graphs, and you'll be happy.

Here's the thing though. I'm not saying I don't want to hear people's opinions. I'm saying I want to hear the evidence behind their opinions. Honestly, nobody's opinion is going to teach me anything, BUT, if I get to see the evidence they used, then maybe I can learn too. IF your opinion is based on fact and research, then hey, sure, I'll hear it. But if your opinion is based on some stuff you seen some time, no, I'm not interested in your opinion. Obviously I'm not gonna stop anyone but I'm not gonna engage IN a discussion if people's opinions are grounded in unicorns and decepticons.

What's that expression about what opinions are like...? That everyone has one of them things too?

Viewpoints can also be formed by what people experience, and people of different walks of life are going to have different ways of seeing things. That can be more valuable to learn about than if they post a link to an MSM news source.

From my own life fifteen or twenty years ago I used to argue against the idea of AGW. I would try to find proper sources that supported me. And I would read the ones that opposed me. I kept finding that my sources dealt with local climates and that those of others dealt with the a much wider part of the global climate. In other words the people that I was using were cherry picking the local environments that did not follow the average. That can happen when it comes to the complex climate that the Earth has. Sooner or later I had to admit that I was wrong. I wish we saw people actually reading and understanding the works of those that oppose them here. But I rarely see that from many individuals here.

A word of advice for everyone, you will always learn more if you try to see things from both sides.

I can say it has NEVER been more valuable than research that o basey opinions on
Besides if there are observations through life that are valuable they would bare out in research.

This could be why conversations with friends and family turn out to be so contentious. Nobody trusts or respects each other's life experiences and viewpoints. As Christians, let's value something other than research. Can you imagine Jesus's disciples demanding that He prove the science behind His parables?
The Pharisees and lawyers were a different matter.

Let's go with severe disease rather than death, since the former happens faster and to a larger fraction of those infected. Wild guesses: 1-2 weeks should give us a decent clue about how frequent severe disease is with Omicron in South Africa, given how rapidly it's spreading. That gives us a reading of how virulent it is in a population that's largely already been infected with earlier strains. Then maybe another two weeks to get similar information from parts of Europe where spread is starting to be noticeable
Slightly ahead of schedule... first estimate of the relative severity of Omicron infections compared to Delta from the UK: Report 50 - Hospitalisation risk for Omicron cases in England. Bottom line: substantially but not massively reduced risk of hospitalization (especially extended hospitalization) for Omicron; prior infection and vaccination continue to provide protection against severe disease.

Omicron overpowers key COVID antibody treatments in early tests
Nearly all of the monoclonal antibodies used to prevent severe disease fail to stand up to the new variant, laboratory assays show.

Strained hospitals bracing for a COVID-19 surge caused by the quickly spreading Omicron variant could face another grim possibility: preliminary experiments suggest that most of the antibody treatments for the disease are powerless against Omicron1,2,3,4.

The preprints report that only two antibodies show strong evidence of retaining some ability to thwart the variant: sotrovimab, developed by Vir Biotechnology in San Francisco, California, and GSK, headquartered in London; and DXP-604, which is undergoing clinical trials in China and was developed by BeiGene and Singlomics, both based in Beijing.

People taking medicine against sickness make one of my gods sad, too. Thank you for doing your part in dissuading people from that.

I'm Grandfather Nurgle and I approve that website.

I think it's more to do with the fact today that we place more emphasis on medications than good health and prayer. Sure there are some instances where people do need medication, but most people do not need to be medicated.

You understand antibiotics come under the heading "medication", right?...or don't you believe in them either.

You aren't qualified to make those claims.
