God rested after creating the earth and the Heavens, ( Jesus Christ created all) and then in Gods way, the Spiritual message began, after all is done, that was required to be done, God sanctifies rest.
Beginning at Psalm 94, that what is required until rest, is the wicked to be placed into the pit, as they give adversity all of the days on earth ( they give no rest as they have no rest/peace in them)...
Psalm 94:13 That thou mayest give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit be digged for the wicked.
The next chapter of Psalms, is instruction for us, to hear the voice of the Lord, and not have hardened hearts ( as the wicked)and God then swears these people do not enter into the Lords sanctified rest.
In the same chapter, God informs us that the Lord reigns, and that the world will be established ( by the Lord) that it will never be moved, as this is the Lord judging righteously, coming to judge the earth, the world with righteousness and the people with His truth...
Psalm 95:7 For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To day if ye will hear his voice,
8 Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness:
9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my work.
10 Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways:
11 Unto whom I sware in my wrath that they should not enter into my rest.
Psalm 96:10 Say among the heathen that the Lord reigneth: the world also shall be established that it shall not be moved: he shall judge the people righteously.
Psalm 96:13 Before the Lord: for he cometh, for he cometh to judge the earth: he shall judge the world with righteousness, and the people with his truth.
The Lord then arises ( from Heaven) to go into His rest, by letting the priests be clothed with righteousness, and said this is His rest for ever, where He dwells, when the Lord clothes her priests with salvation....
Psalm 132:8 Arise, O Lord, into thy rest; thou, and the ark of thy strength.
9 Let thy priests be clothed with righteousness; and let thy saints shout for joy.
Psalm 132:14 This is my rest for ever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it.
15 I will abundantly bless her provision: I will satisfy her poor with bread.
16 I will also clothe her priests with salvation: and her saints shall shout aloud for joy.
In Isaiah 62, the Lord then coming to earth, holds not His peace, and this is the Lord not resting, until He sent righteousness forth, His salvation to us. The watch men hold not their peace, and the world is established ( through Christ) and there is no rest given to Him, until then ( until the world cannot be moved )...
Isaiah 62:1 For Zion's sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth.
Isaiah 62:6 I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the Lord, keep not silence,
7 And give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth.
The next chapter of Isaiah, and He ( Jesus Christ) treads the winepress of God, sprinkling His garments, and it is the year of His redeemed.
The Lord ( Jesus Christ) led Israel dividing the water before them, the Spirit of the Lord caused him to rest, to make the Lord the glorious name...
Isaiah 63;3 I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my raiment.
4 For the day of vengeance is in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed is come.
Isaiah 63:12 That led them by the right hand of Moses with his glorious arm, dividing the water before them, to make himself an everlasting name?
13 That led them through the deep, as an horse in the wilderness, that they should not stumble?
14 As a beast goeth down into the valley, the Spirit of the Lord caused him to rest: so didst thou lead thy people, to make thyself a glorious name.
Isaiah 11, and the knowledge of the Lord ( the knowledge of Jesus Christ) fills the earth, and the Gentiles seek to Him, and His rest shall be glorious. Here I include the New American Version, in case anyone might be confused, how rest is also resting place, and is still the rest of the Lord in glory.....
Isaiah 11:9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.
10 And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious.
Isaiah 11:10 Then on that day
The nations will resort to the root of Jesse,
Who will stand as a signal flag for the peoples;
And His resting place will be glorious.
Isaiah 11 continues, and Egypt is targeted, as there will be a highway for the remnant of the Lords people, as when they came up out of the Land of Egypt. Revelation 19, confirms that Jesus treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God..
Isaiah 11:15 And the Lord shall utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with his mighty wind shall he shake his hand over the river, and shall smite it in the seven streams, and make men go over dryshod.
16 And there shall be an highway for the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria; like as it was to Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt.
Revelation 19:15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
Jesus ( Christ) it is that was with the children of Israel in the wilderness, and with Him ( Jesus Christ) God drive out all adversaries ( all scripture testifies of Christ)...
Acts 7:38 This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us:
Acts 7:45 Which also our fathers that came after brought in with Jesus into the possession of the Gentiles, whom God drave out before the face of our fathers, unto the days of David;
Now Jesus speaking ( as Jesus Christ is Lord and God) speaks how Israel saw His works, and God testified they never knew His ways, then in wrath ( the judgment of the Lord) makes declaration how these ( who err in heart) will not enter into the Lords rest ( His glorious rest and glory)...
Psalm 95:9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my work.
10 Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways:
11 Unto whom I sware in my wrath that they should not enter into my rest.
Now beginning in Hebrews, the Apostle Paul teaches us the end of the matter, how we are to take heed to not have that same evil heart of unbelief.
We have the matter told, how the declaration of them not entering into Gods rest ( His glorious rest and glory) was prevented by unbelief ( what is not of faith is sin)....
Hebrews 3:9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.
10 Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.
11 So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)
12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
Hebrews 3:18 And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?
19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.
The next chapter of Hebrews, tells us how we which believe enter into rest, and the entering of the Lords rest ( glorious and glory) by the works that were finished from the foundation of the world.
Is it Jesus Christ our Lord, or Joshua that spoke of the Lords rest for us ? It cant be Joshua, because that would also be speaking in the law and of a sabbath rest in the law, as the New American Version seems to suggest. Did Joshua, or did Jesus Christ ( who speaks in all scripture) speak to us of another day?
It speaks of God of course, who entered into His rest, and we heard of another day, of the glorious rest of the Lord Jesus Christ, and we labour therefore to enter into THAT REST ( to not fail after the same example of the people in the law) through faith of Jesus Christ..
Hebrews 4:3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
Hebrews 4:8 For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.
9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
Hebrews 4:8 For if [d]Joshua had given them rest, He would not have spoken of another day after that. 9 Consequently, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God. 10 For the one who has entered His rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from His. 11 Therefore let’s make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following the same example of disobedience.
Then we understand where Jesus entered into, what rest he entered into, ( of the world they think into a sabbath rest while on earth) but in Heaven we understand it is Heaven that Jesus Christ entered into.
If on earth ( as they believe in earthly rest/earth law keeping sabbath) then Christ would not be a priest, as the priests offered according to the law, they served in shadow of Heavenly things ( all in the law is therefore SHADOW) now we have the more excellent ministry and covenant and which is established ( the promises of the world established so it wont be moved and God not resting until the righteousness goes forth) and the new covenant is given with the house of Israel which are the DAYS THE LORD JESUS CHRIST SPOKE OF, and not Joshua at all on earth...
Hebrews 6:20 Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
Hebrews 8:4 For if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law:
5 Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.
6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.
7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.
8 For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:
Do we see the testimony revolving around and missing nothing out, just as the earth revolves around ? Hebrews 12, speaks of Jesus ( not Joshua at all in anything) is the mediator of the new covenant, and now it is He that speaks from Heaven, ( better than speaking on earth/ Joshua) and the Lord confirmed that the earth will now, no longer be shaken and then will remain ( this is the day Christ spoke of and established)...
Hebrews 12:4 And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.
25 See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven:
26 Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.
27 And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.
Jesus even had to reprove His disciples, to understand that Christ suffered all of those things then entered into His glory ( entered into His rest)
Then in Revelations the praise goes forth, as the Lord God takes to Himself His great power and reigns ( entered into His rest)
This is His glorious rest, it is eternal. There is a rest that men do, it is not glorious, it is for a day.
We labour to enter into His same rest, through faith, or we do not labour in faith, and rest on a sabbath.
Luke 24:26 Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?
Revelation 11:17 Saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned.
Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Matthew 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
I will end on this last testimony, how religions that separate from what God has said, all is clean, and insist ( in their rules and law keeping) that they will still have some clean and some unclean, or to abstain altogether, not only are false, but are shown to be the religion at the ending times doing so...
Romans 14:14 I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.
1 Timothy 4:2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
1 Timothy 4:3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
