As a non-Christian US citizen, why on Earth would I want a Constitution based on the idea that I must convert or burn in eternal damnation?

so you’re ok to live condemned now, but you’re still ok with going to hell after you die for not believing?? What exactly is the atheist thought process of afterlife?? Seems to me you’re being short sighted in this life..

Maybe I’m just a kook, but I cannot bring myself to worship a God who would create a “Hell”.

Atheists don't accept the existence of God.

If I don't accept the existence of God it follows that I have no reason to accept the idea of heaven, hell or any Christian concept of afterlife. It's not that I'm "ok with going to hell after I die". As far as I'm concerned hell doesn't exist. When I die I simply cease to exist.

You're talking about something called Pascal's Wager. I could argue that -if I'm right- you've just wasted your entire life so far following a set of unnecessary rules and worshipping a non-existent Sky Father. All this based on absolutely no evidence (apart from a shared belief) that your God exists.

The other problem with the Wager is that you can't make yourself believe. Even if I accepted your premise, I can't force myself to believe in the existence of God.

I put it in terms a believer would understand, not how I understand it.
When I die, for me, the universe ceases to exist.

And the wager always seems to leave out the chance that the one true God is not the God of the Christians. Or for that matter that the Christian God just might forgive honest disbelief but not a false belief, even or is it especially if that false belief claimes to be belief in Him (while going against all He has said and commanded).

I of course voted yes. It seems silly to become a christian and not want our govt to look more like what God has in store for us in Heaven. But its not hard to believe that there are people who love what we have now, as it is a product of sinful people who desire sinful ways.
Yeshua did not try to write a new constitution for the Jews. He looked for mankind to have a change of heart in living in his "Kingdom Now". The law is "Love G-d and love your neighbour, (including even your enemy) as yourself." This is all the constitution needed no matter which country you live in. The is no single Christian country.

It's that there is no afterlife, because consciousness is generated by brain tissue, and so it cases when the brain dies.

The one where non believers go…

If I gave that thought any credit, I'd be a believer, wouldn't I?

Is this why you would want the Constitution rewritten? To force me to believe you?

no. The only reason i would want to change the constitution is to have a chance at God not being angry with us, and perhaps, even have a restoration as Nineveh did.

Your reference point is very old. Nineveh has been abandoned for 2600 years. Leave our constitution alone.

you need to read about jonah and how he helped Nineveh reach repentance, which if they hadn’t, God would have destroyed them. As far as im concerned, Unless we change our ways, and repent, God will destroy us.
