Anastasis: The Harrowing Of Hades

Short graphic novel by an independent Christian author. I liked the way the story plays out adjacently to the New Testament where dying people start showing up in Abraham's Bosom telling them about Christ before He comes for them. He's good at developing the emotion of the events.

A Forest in the Desert: The Life of Saint John the Short

Gives you an idea of what life was like for the 4th century monks residing in the desert. The illustrations are charming. I find John relatable as he was different from others on account of his height. He wasn't that socially inclined either, though he got very close to a few people and became a spiritual father to many. Recommended for Christians that want to know more about their history.

I have been reading The Lord of the Rings for at least a couple of years now - I forget when I started it and only read a short excerpt at a time as it is so detailed and I can only take in a certain amount at a time. About 20 years ago the family went to see the film, but our youngest didn't go and I didn't go. He wasn't interested and I didn't fancy watching something with so much detail. Instead we went to see Monsters inc. Great film.

Also reading More Than a Prophet:an Insider's Response to Muslim Beliefs About Jesus and Christianity by Emir Caner and Ergin Caner and Ben Hur.

The Life of St. Francis of Assisi (St. Bonaventure)

It's kind of difficult because the prose and language are so archaic in structure and terminology.

I will have to look this book up. Seems like one I would enjoy.

I hope you enjoy the book.

Yeah I'm liking the book more than the movie so far.
My family apart from the youngest and myself went to see the movie several years ago. Too much detail moving too fast for me. Youngest and I went to see Monsters Inc. instead. I've been reading the book very slowly - a few lines at a time - and quite enjoying it. I look going at my own pace.

Also reading Charlotte Bronte's The Professor. Nice, easy read except that the characters keep lapsing into French for which no translation is given ( the main character works as a teacher in Belgium)

Right now I'm reading Pilgrim which was originally published as 2 books Pyramids and After the Fact in 1987 and 1988.

An ironic (and moronic) twist is that I started watching the highly advertised new TV show La Brea which totally botches how carbon dating works in multiple ways when they date a gold wedding band! In Pyramids a character gains access to a time travel device and bring back real Egyption artifacts to the 1930s but eventually has problems because they are shown to be fakes through carbon dating. A proper understanding of how carbon dating works.

Ride Sally Ride (sex rules) by Doug Wilson

"A novel about love, the crack-up of the U.S.A., and refusing to back down when the whole world calls you crazy.

It’s two decades in the future, and a Christian college student named Ace Hartwick has just destroyed his neighbor’s so-called “wife”—actually a sexbot named Sally—in a trash compactor. Soon, Ace will be on trial for murder.

Unfortunately for Ace, everyone despises his kind of “radical” Christianity, and, in the fragile America of the future, all the juries are fixed."

God's Secret Weapon by Merlin Carothers
I just stared reading this today, and I really thought this was good:
List of what we can do through Christ as found in the Bible.
Always be full of joy in the Lord. (Philippians 4:4)
Shout unto God with the voice of triumph. (Psalms 47:1)
Have a new song in my mouth, many shall see it and shall trust in the LORD. (Psalm 40:3)
Be filled with all joy and peace believing through the power of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 15:13)
Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. (Ephesians 6:10)
Have nothing, and yet possess everything. (2 Corinthians 6:10)
Have the full measure of Christ's joy. (John 17:13)
