Blessed are the poor, if they stay in justice (Luke 6:20).

• “Much food is in the plowed ground of the poor, but when there is no justice, it is swept away.” (Pro 13:23).

Many people misunderstand about the poor who Jesus said to be blessed. The poor aren’t those who are deplenished of resources, as Lazarus:

• “And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, who was laid at his gate, full of sores and desiring to be fed with the *crumbs* which fell from the rich man's table. But even the dogs came and licked his sores.” (Luke 16:20,21).

As a matter of fact, many people think that Lazarus was saved because he was poor. However, take heed that he wished to feed with the crumbs of the rich. Maybe you are asking: “what does something have to do with the other one?

• “Then she came and worshiped Him, saying, Lord, help me! But He answered and said, It is not good to take the children's bread and to throw it to dogs. And she said, True, O Lord; but even the little dogs eat of the *crumbs* which fall from their masters' tables.” (Mat 15:25-27).

When someone thinks that the crumbs are sufficient to nurture them, this is a sign of that their faith is great. Lazarus didn’t wish to take nothing of the rich. He believed that, with the garbage of the rich he can provide his own sustenance and, as we know:

• “The wicked desires the net of evils; but the root of the righteous yields fruit.” (Pro 12:12),

Therefore, Lazarus was righteous, because he was able to see virtue where nobody could see. He could yield blessings from where there was no one.

So, who is the poor? Those who, although they work hard and get many copious crops, they never enrich because they apportioned the production with other needy people.

They are plied in the exchange of material for spiritual blessings, in order to amass treasures in heaven (Mat 6:19-21):

• “And I say to you, Make friends by the mammon of unrighteousness for yourselves, so that when you fail, they may receive you into everlasting dwellings.” (Luke 16:9).

In other words: the poor aren’t those who are destitute, but those who, although have many resources and have condition to enrich, they opt for handing out their “leftovers” so that Jesus can, through this, find room to sow His seed in people’s heart (as Paul taught in 2Cor 9:6-15). They are those who, although rich, they made themselves as nothing in order to be used by the Creator to save people (as Jesus did – Phil 2:5-8).

Finally, why are we interested in accruing money? Certainly, because we didn’t really believe that Jesus will furnish what we need (as it was promised in – Mat 6:33; 1Cor 2:9; Eph 1:3; 3:20; Phil 4:19; 2Pe 1:3, etc.).

So, have a good day being just, that is to say, giving out the profuse blessing that Jesus imparted to you for His glory (and not for your selfish profit).
