Humans have about 15 years left on this planet?

How long to save the planet from climate catastrophe? This clock is ticking down

The old saying; "I always thought I had more time."

If reports have been correct the last 15 years, we are extremely near the end of the point of no return. Nations showed very little interest in curbing emissions as that would affect their GNP and lower their image of strength in the eyes of the rest of the world.
This could be why we are hearing and seeing more verbiage of there existing water on Mars and possibly other planets, when we have known for 50 years that this was not the case. Instead of tackling the problem, some countries put their hopes in space stations. We will probably be inundated with news concerning this till the end of our time.

It has now become problem right up on our doorstep now and this problem must be addressed before any social problem. Hopefully before we have to send cooling devises out west and to Washington state and Oregon. Lord help us.....northern Minnesota.

Warming will come fast, as the human caused greenhouse effect triggers cascading heat trapping gas releases from the melting arctic.

But it wont come lightning fast. There will likely be time to set up protein tank farms (per Blade Runner 2049) and other mitigations to make human life on a burning planet feasible, if unpleasant.

Alternatively we might see China unilaterally implement engineered heat shielding solutions to prevent their global food supply chain from disintegrating.

Even with climate change, Earth isn't going to become less habitable than Mars. So the idea of escaping from Earth to Mars doesn't really sound that good.

I’m guessing that there are many scientists who reject this prediction otherwise there would be a global catastrophe warning in effect. The article doesn’t provide a shred of evidence to support this claim so I would be very skeptical about the validity of it.

I think we've had fifteen years left for about a hundred years now.

The most likely scenario, for anyone interested, is that the earth will continue to warm until it stops warming. Then it will cool back down. The reason I say that is because that is what has happened since the beginning. Over and over again. I have been to central Florida with my son looking for fossils. In central Florida the most common fossil is shark's teeth. There are sharks teeth in central Florida because central Florida was once covered by seawater. It will once again become covered by seawater until it stops. Again.

I’m not sure why you believe this nonsense. As I seem to recall, Al Gore said our coastal cities would be flooded by now. Apparently, there is now three times the ice pack compared to when we first started tracking it.

Humanity has as much time as God says we have left. If God says today is the last day then it is. Live everyday like the Lord can return today, but also live like you have to live another 100 years serving Jesus. Besides, if you are a Christian, why do you worry if you going to die soon. We can only gain by dying. Preach gospel and repentance, serve and praise God and let God take care about everything else.

Given that most of the western part of Canada and US are in a record breaking heat wave right now...definitely 15 years seems a bit too generous. Lytton BC broke canada's all time heat record yesterday of 47*C. THere is a reason why the hottest years on record have all been the last few years.

LOL - per the OP's link, that clock, labeled The Climate Clock was showing "7 years, 98 days, 15 hours… and counting." That was as of September 20, 2020, about 9 months ago. It's currently 6 years, 186 days and change...

THIS Climate Clock is currently showing 11 years, 7 months, 3 days and xxx hrs, min, sec - till 1.5 deg C.

So apparently, we've gained about 5 years.

Maybe we should just put dates to both:
OP's clock: 12/30/2027
Other clock: 1/24/2033

So sometime between 2027 and 2033 (maybe, or maybe not), we'll hit the magic 1.5 Deg C number (maybe - or... maybe not) and something "bad" may or may not happen.

Should we live as if we care what sort of world our grandchildren, or their children, might inhabit?

Well, there's also a reason why the "record" is only about 150 years old - we haven't the foggiest clue whether we, or this planet have experienced similar in our ancient past.

Of course we should take care of this world, as it was given to us by God. We should also take care of our bodies, even though we going to die one day. Life is a gift from God, we should not waste it. However, things are only going to get worse. And you never know when it's your last day, so repent and make peace with Jesus, because only He can save you from God's wrath for your sins.

Right...because how hot it was 2 million years ago matters compared to now right? We know it's bad now and getting worse,

Thats radically false. There's all kinds of clues about regional and global climate patterns going way back.

Of course - but my point is that we only know that MYOPICALLY. Our "record" of temps is just a sliver of data in a vast yardstick of time. 150 years of records out of what, hundreds of thousands, millions of actual time? And this particular event what, 60, 70 years of that recorded history? An even smaller sliver of time.

We haven't the faintest clue if this has, or hasn't occurred before on our planet.

Not true at all - "clues" yes, but we're talking about levels of precision to be able to discern a 50-70 year nominal spike in temps that those "clues" simply do not, and cannot provide.

Againh that doesn't matter, it's just a usual slight of hand tactic by those that want to ignore reality. Again, we know how bad it will be NOW if it keeps getting hotter. There were not cities more then 150 years ago in many of the places in north America they are now, cities that will flood if the water rises too much more. Area of where most of the worlds crops are from that will be ungrowable if things continue.

We know whats causing the problems now, and it's climate change. The issue if we have civilization right now built entirely upon where it's safe to live/grow now, and if it changes too much that will change faster then we can adapt.

They can when we have methods to check the temperatures and whats causing them.

[Tired of arguing this nonsense] Ok then - which is it - 12/30/2027 or 1/24/2033 that we meet our doom?

I can't read the post, but it looks to me like it's not saying the earth ends in 15 years, but that if we don't stop climate change within 15 years things will be irreversible. BUt who cares about science and reality huh? WHo cares that majority of scientists agree, who cares that the weather has been objectively worse over the last decade. We don't know how bad it was 3000 years ago!!!. You guys are a joke, things are getting worse and you rather ignore it then face reality.
