Why does he that earns wages, many times earns wages to put it into a bag with holes (Haggai 1:6)?

• “Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labour shall increase.” (Pro 13:11).

1 – The wealth comes from iniquity:

• “Treasures of wickedness profit nothing; but righteousness delivers from death.” (Pro 10:2).

2 – The lucre accrued exploiting the weakness and naivety of the person:

• “He who increases his wealth by interest and unjust gain, he shall gather it for him who will pity the poor.” (Pro 28:8).

3 - The profit acquired hurriedly:

• “An inheritance gotten hastily in the beginning, even the end of it shall not be blessed.” (Pro 20:21).

4 – The gain ensued the oppression (Isaiah 33:14,15):

• “Though he heaps up silver like the dust, and prepares clothing like the clay, he may prepare, but the just shall put it on, and the innocent shall divide the silver.” (Job 27:16,17).

5 – The richness arose from hypocrisy (see Job 20:5):

• “He swallows riches, but vomits it; God shall cast them out of his belly.” (Job 20:15).

6 – What is in his possession doesn’t belong to him before the Creator, that is to say, this isn’t for Him:

• “The quail sits on eggs and does not hatch them; in the same way he who gets riches, and not by right, shall leave them in the middle of his days, and in his end he shall be a fool.” (Jer 17:11).

7 – The treasure is the aftermath of thievery:

• “Shall not all these take up a parable against him, and a taunting proverb against him, and say, Woe to him that increaseth that which is not his! how long? and to him that ladeth himself with thick clay! Shall they not rise up suddenly that shall bite thee, and awake that shall vex thee, and thou shalt be for booties unto them?” (Hab 2:6,7).

8 – The goods were conquered exploring the employees:

• “Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you. Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten. Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days. Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth. Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter.” (Jas 5:1-5).

In all these cases, the outcome will be this:

• “There is a sore evil which I have seen under the sun, namely, riches kept for their owners to their hurt. But those riches perish by evil use. And he brings forth a son, and nothing is in his hand.” (Ecc 5:13,14).

So, have a good day seeking out, in Jesus, using Jesus’ gifts in your life to edify His house in people’s heart, instead of caring only for your own house.
