Occasionally I like to dig Youtube to hear interesting audio/video files from the past. Found some interesting things like phone calls from the 1930s and home recording from the era. Post Youtube videos of historical video/audio.

German recording of a stereo sound performance in 1944. Remarkably you can reportedly hear war fire around the the 2:30 mark. A little faint.. but seems real.

While the audio quality is not as good as the 1944 recording above.. it's still a remarkable quality considering it was recorded in 1903.

For some reason they've made it age restricted (I don't know why; there's nothing controversial or bad in it), so it won't display without going to YouTube directly, but here's a neat little documentary telling the story of the first ever gramophone recordings of the folk music of Bhutan, which were only made in 1968.

Or how about the first ever commercial Ethiopian recordings, from 1908? They are sung by Tessema Eshete (b. 1877):

I love these Youtube channels that clean up, stabilize and use AI to increase the resolution and add color. Helps to bring out the reality that these were once living breathing people with problems and joys just like the rest of us.

Yeah the modern bike is probably very similar to an early 20th century bicycle.. still.. it'd be thrilling to ride something that was crafted over a 100 years ago.

Absolutely, I had a semi-diesel from 1936, they don't wear out.

The inventor of Basketball...
I won't mention any names, but somebody sure has appropriated the heck out of my culture. Oh well, I guess this means I get to keep my dreadlocks.

A video from the 1930s showing an early example of electronic music.

It looks like Kraftwerk gets the credit blame for inventing techno in 1970. Or so the Germans would have us believe. (R.I.P. Norm MacDonald)

Every Canadian knows this story, we had these "part of our heritage" commericals in the 90s and they are often referenced ironically.
and parodied...
