Jesus said it is hard for the rich to enter heaven because if one trusts in one riches to enter heaven if one believes truly one is good that one is worthy that one deserves heaven because of ones works in working hard to be rich as though because one worked and was not lazy. Because one may believe if one worked hard that even though it made one rich one helped others and that made them rich that one deserves salvation because of one many works that one deserves salvation and did not know how much one needs Christ.

As psalm 49 shows for one does not go to heaven for trusting in ones own deeds because one was able to do many things and become rich if one trust is in just in himself and not in Christ but one must only work what Christ requires and he should never think he is worthy.

Please try to use punctuation. Read your post out loud. Commas and full stops are where one takes a breath etc.

Re riches! Just what are riches?

Compared to who?

Jesus said you should not cast your pearls to pigs. Hogs occasionally ate farmers who fed them. Air conditioned dog houses and diamond studded dog collars are foolishness.

Jesus taught about the prodigal son who got an inheritance and went into a foreign land where he spent his money in idle pleasure. Hard times came upon him. He got a low paying job where the pigs he was feeding were eating better than him. That is starvation wages. Spending all his money foolishly did not save him. He went back to his family who paid better wages.

Wealth is not salvation any more than poverty is salvation. A poor man might not waste as much, or he might waste everything as stupidity is one way people remain poor. A rich man might have taken more than he needed by dishonest or fraudulent means. Even a rich thief might face judgement.

I don’t believe it is wrong to seek to work hard to not be lazy that it is the safest way to be saved if you helped others but that still does not mean you deserve salvation but you did what you are supposed to do because I believe all are required to do good but it is not that one earns it for God will accept any work to do however late if one has chance but it is safer to do so earlier

The difference between Christianity and other religions is all other religions believe you are required to earn salvation from your many works. Christ does not actually require any works to be done to earn salvation for one to have a history of good works before as long as one is currently doing all Christ said for if one has true saving faith he must have works he must be doing what he is able to do now so if one was ever living without works he was not saved and was at risk for works are a necessary fruit of true salvation if one has faith he is able to be saved but he must still work out own salvation to make sure he is living in Christ to be doing and have done His will. One must strive to do His will to diligently seek to make sure one does it while one has opportunity for one does not know when one dies

Jesus said blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven
A rich man especially could seek to trust in the fact he is rich that he has a sense of deserving heaven because of his deeds or it could be a person trusts in his own works that he believes he is fully righteous for though a person should do good because he is commanded it is an expected fruit of a person who genuinely received salvation it is not because one earned salvation though a person is to work out ones salvation not work for a person must really have a changed heart that produces fruit

that is why Jesus said narrow is the way that leads to life and few find it because to know truth requires reading Jesus words and few will know the simplicity of it because there are many false teachings among believers and some may not be able to know that there is hope for them in Jesus alone to be saved for church can not give hope to everyone who doesn’t know the grace of God to save him as he would think it is too late

a person can go to church and think he must do good but it is wrong to think one is righteous enough to deserve salvation but I believe a person is only judged if he knows he is doing wrong but he loves position of praise he wants to exclude people and make himself righteous

I don’t believe the rich ruler had to sell everything then there would be no rich people but he seeked to be justified by his deeds as he thought he could be perfect jesus showed him he can’t be so He gave him a command he knew he would find difficult to do to sell all he had which He did not require or maybe I am wrong and He only required of him because he was attached to his possessions and so his whole heart was not with God otherwise he would be allowed to have riches as Jesus said seek first the kingdom and all these things will be added to you he did not have trust in Christ so Christ wanted him to trust Him first but He does not require all people to sell everything because then no one will work for some have families they have to provide for but that people should not store up riches because you are worried if you don’t store everything even if you go to work you are missing out not enjoying everything that you don’t even need that others need or to save more than is necessary for future not to share it because you want to be richer or because you are worried about future too much if you already have enough money or worked and have enough for your needs and family needs currently not to worry about future as Jesus said He will provide needs of future for those who are serving Him now and working and seem to have enough for future now even if they are worried about losing it as Jesus said not to trust in mammon

I believe the below is informative but I am not convinced Jesus means that a person who believes if he does works through Jesus help that he would be not saved as he still believes he has no righteousness of his own that through Jesus he is saved a person should not believe through his own works before he found salvation but the work of God in one now that one can be saved therefore I don’t agree that no works are necessary but even if it is not and Jesus teaches through grace all can be saved I don’t believe He will condemn those who believe they need to do works as bible seems to teach that and no one proves certainly that it is not necessary to be faithful and to overcome in trials or that Jesus would condemn those who no one showed them or they couldn’t know for sure.

Jesus only condemns seeking to do works of your own self righteousness as though you can be perfect on your own and not needing blood of Christ to perfect you not doing the works Christ requires that one knows one can only do through Christ

What did Jesus mean when He said it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to get into heaven? | GotQuestions.org

Works are not required for Christ to justify if a person does not have opportunity but if a person refuses to do works it is sin and person may be punished and not given opportunity to repent a person who believes if he does not want to do works and care for the poor he can not be saved. James says faith without works is dead if a person does not work it may be he does not really believe in what Jesus taught.

Jesus said it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. The disciples then said who then can be saved ? Jesus said children how hard it is for those who trust in riches to enter the kingdom of God

If you are rich from doing the Lord work it is not your money but you must not store riches on earth but you must be always giving to the needy you should only have money to support yourself and your family

Jesus said seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all your needs will be met you have duty to give most of your money to those who are in need and leave only a fair part for you not to teach your children to trust in riches that is to feel the need to be rich but only to meet their needs to teach them to be content to keep riches in case they need for food and clothing but not to desire to be rich

1 Timothy 6:6-19
6 Now godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 8 And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. 9 But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
The Good Confession
11 But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. 12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. 13 I urge you in the sight of God who gives life to all things, and before Christ Jesus who witnessed the good confession before Pontius Pilate, 14 that you keep this commandment without spot, blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ’s appearing, 15 which He will manifest in His own time, He who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords, 16 who alone has immortality,
dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power. Amen.
Instructions to the Rich
17 Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy. 18 Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, 19 storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.

Bob Marley says some people are so poor for all they have is money

I see his point but it is better have money and love than no money and judge others it proves they don’t have more than others who have money as they don’t acknowledge God gave money as blessing to people and to accuse all people as only having money because they do have money makes you worse than them as it is not even God will for person to have nothing as Jesus said he who seeks first kingdom will be given other things so to have something is not sin but to trust in it and live for it is sin person needs to live for God to trust in Him to provide money and not one own self to support oneself to look after himself by his own strength to worry but for God to supply what you need but bible says God gives richly all things to enjoy that is not to have to suffer in need in any area not to enjoy pleasure what we need not for us to supply what we need but only for Him to provide as we seek kingdom and seek to help others

Perhaps the rich young ruler had gotten rich because he was a ruler and he was expecting he does not need to follow Jesus that he does not need to lose his position that made him rich that he just needs to follow a commandment that he is perfect enough in law to gain kingdom from his works so Jesus was testing him.

So I thought that could mean it is ok to be rich but one must be willing to follow Jesus even if it does not make one as much profit and to trust in riches is to trust in oneself to enter heaven in one works that one was able to do much as Jesus said with man it is impossible to achieve salvation to believe anything that originates from oneself and not from God can save one.

But I don’t know as Jesus still said unless a man forsake all he has he can not be His disciple and the apostles said see we have left everything and followed You and Jesus promises anyone who has left houses and lands for kingdom will receive eternal life that being all that is necessary if your family are believers as they follow truth. People from non believing and professing family have to lose others if they do not follow Christ who is truth which can come with persecution which they need to endure but it seems other believers still need to give up their riches to serve Christ. There seems to be no promise of eternal life without doing so or it could be only for the non Christian who could lose such if they follow Christ but we don’t know so one should do it.

As Jesus also said lay up not treasure on earth so it can not be goal and said he who gains his life will lose it that you can not serve God and mammon. It could mean if you follow Jesus you may not make as much money that you will not get as much position to make more to have more opportunity and you have to choose between following Jesus to lose your life which is gaining opportunity or getting your life and losing your eternal life and by following Christ you can not do some things to make more money.

But it may not be only for those who are not from believing households that confess Christ it may also be for all Christians you can not work for sake to gain money but you have to work only because you have to that you may support others who can’t support themselves and yourself to serve God. So people should follow Jesus fully as it seems it is required.

There is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus who walk not according to flesh but Spirit. If one is buried with Christ he shall be raised with Him that is to completely be baptised into His death that is to to die to your old man trusting in your self but now trust in Him to need Him to bury your old man for Him to be buried with Him in trusting His way for Him to raise you so that you have life which by doing with trust it shows you believe in Him to raise you to give you life so shows trust in Him. Anyone can now surrender his trust in himself in one riches to live dependent on God and anyone who seeks to be commited to Jesus now can be saved. If you do not follow Christ now you may not get opportunity to deserve it to seek to call on God genuinely and person is only saved if he has opportunity to call and he genuinely is sorry for his life.

Jesus says fear not little flock it is your Father good pleasure to give you the kingdom sell what you have and give alms.

Christians are supposed to flock together so that others can provide for the poor of His people to do gospel work if someone leaves house to seek to do gospel work others of the church that is pastors should help such a one with charity funds while person needs work until they are able to show them situations how they may work to support themselves

Mark 10:29 (KJV)
[29] And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's,
[30] But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.

I had criticised Denzel Washington here but I realise it was wrong and also I think it might seem awkward or inappropriate to people there so I deleted it.

Log into Facebook

I replied the below paragraph but I realise it is wrong and replied after it below

You are either following Jesus or being your own guide did not Jesus say to apostles to leave everything to follow Him and preach don’t judge least of Christ brethren come now you who say we shall buy and sell and make a profit when you don’t know what will happen you should say if the Lord wills and we know it is Lord will to seek first kingdom that you can not serve God and mammon that your work should be secondary to work of gospel to only work as it is required for day to think not to be rich or tommorow but for it to prosper if the Lord wills you can have other goals but your first goal is to follow Jesus to only worry about day unless the Lord has said to you particularly He wants you to do something else for Him if He is patient to you for now does not mean He always is and does not mean it is safe to follow you to know He will be patient to others.

I replied after
Apologies to Denzel Washington I was wrong to judge him as it is not wrong to have other goals in life it is good to and he is doing more than me for Him as long as one is dedicated to preaching Him and does not put trust in one money to deliver him from difficulty to need to worry about tommorow but not to waste to supply for today first and then trust in God to supply for tommorow and you can have money as long as you do not store more because you do not trust God to supply a part if you do your job for today and care for day not neglectful to waste for today and using it to advance kingdom not for sake to increase for pleasure only reason to save some not to waste it to be able to help others. It is right to say if the Lord wills then you can do but if it is not something found against His word then it is ok in His will and His word says as long as you seek first the kingdom He is the one who supplies to allow other goals that you are allowed to have other goals if you seek first the kingdom but you also know you may not know if God will will something to prosper and to give chance to do it so as only not to boast that you know so person should make sure one priority is kingdom of God.

Actually I believe I was not fully accurate it is more correct that Jesus requires total commitment to put Him first to be doing His will that it may be necessary to only first be seeking to do His will you can not serve God and mammon because where your treasure is there your heart will be also to be dedicated and to repent Jesus requires total surrender until you are doing His will first but it is not wrong to have other goals as long as your first goal is serving Christ and you are doing it.

Actually I believe it is not wrong to have other goals as long as such goals are not a distraction to put God first to be using all your talents and that you can have time for yourself that you may need to if it will give your body and mind rest to spend time with God. It is important to put time with God first but if you have you can have other goals but you need to use all your talents.

Actually I believe it is required as I said to die to yourself. You must live a new life totally dependent on God. Jesus said fear not little flock it is your Father pleasure to give you kingdom sell what you have give alms. Provide yourself money bags that do not grow old. A treasure in the heavens that does not fail. That is because riches fail you to heaven. He told rich man to have eternal life to sell what he has and give to poor and take up cross to follow Him.I have to depend on God for my daily bread to give me work. To temporarily be helped until I find work I should go to church to get help from pastors of a true church that got its funds from people who fully followed Christ to sell all they have or as Jesus said to consider cost if you have enough to finish so you should first find work to save some until you can do work to provide daily needs then sell what you have to now depend on Christ for your daily needs. They may work in all fields that make money but they give to poor they just supply for daily needs.

Actually I believe it is not wrong to have money the rich man problem was he loved wealth he kept money for himself and not for others he was not willing to give it all up so Christ told him to as one needs to trust in Christ and not love money to be willing to give it all up to share. Money is a talent to be managed and helps you to preach gospel to do things you have to use all talents God gives you to share gospel. To be doing all one can do. When Jesus said fear not little flock it is your Father good pleasure to give you kingdom sell what you have and give alms it was after passage of not worrying about obtaining things that you should not seek to store things because of fear of future or greed and not willing to share not that you can not have riches if you share from it to those who have need to give from it what you can that your needs are met and need of your family in future though not to fear not to give what you can because you may need more in future to not fear loss of possessions to give from it yet He said He will provide riches if you seek kingdom so you don’t have to give all but you should give much you don’t need not to fear loss when sharing a lot that it is for nothing.

Salvation is possible for anyone who turns to the Lord seeking repentance but person should seek to obey all Jesus has said or person may die when he is not seeking Christ to repent. Jesus said lay not up treasure on earth and fear not little flock it is your Father pleasure to give you kingdom sell what you have and give alms that which is tied to parable of talents that if you have money you still need to do good with it to make friends with unrighteous mammon that is what business does not need and you should increase wealth to give to more but you should still give rest you do not need to poor and if you failed to do and is too late should give to those willing to work to increase it.

One is not saved by works as though works we’re needed you only need to repent when you can to do what you can but if you are not seeking to obey now you are not repentant and can die when not trying for you don’t know when you will die because if you are not trying you are not seeking then and if you didn’t die it would be done but if you turn to Lord at any time if all you can do is call upon Him one is saved. But perhaps one can do more now atleast to tell others to deposit your money to a Christian organisation that is dependable and can give to one children as much for their needs and to be able to support themselves for life but the rest to poor that should be given to Christian Organisation if they can be held accountable for how they spend that all know and one children can decide how it is but not to be used for them.
