This would really be an interesting Christmas surprise. I have to say that I personally would welcome it. Pope Francis has been controversial to the RCC, to say the least.

‘No doubt’ Pope will resign after Christmas as Francis vowed to ‘follow Benedict’

‘No doubt’ Pope will resign after Christmas as Francis vowed to ‘follow Benedict
He said: “I don’t think there’s ever been any doubt that he will resign in 2020.

“He made clear from the beginning that he regarded Pope Benedict’s (XVI) act as a prophetic act of great modesty and he would have absolutely no problem in doing the same.

“What was interesting was he said to Mexican television in 2014 that he believed that he would have a short papacy of about five years.

This Bishop is clearly steering the Papacy in a modernist, leftwing direction. I'm frankly surprised the Vatican inner circle hasn't offed him already, though that may be more difficult than in times past. In any event, the speed of their shift left has been incredible. As a Protestant I consider the Papacy apostate but we're getting to the point where historical papists may start to agree. This Pope is not only abandoning scripture, he's abandoning tradition which the Papacy adheres to.

My mother was denied communion because she had a civil marriage. This made her feel rejected. No religious body should have control like this when it goes beyond the teachings of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, who teaches the forgiveness of sin. The Pope got that right. Needless to say, my mother found the truth elsewhere. Blessings.

If you want to be a Catholic, then you have to follow and obey Catholic teaching. Simples.

Pope Francis isn't going to resign after Christmas.

As a devout Catholic, I love Pope Francis and love how he has transformed the Vatican and moved the hierarchy toward living a more simple life and living as Christ intended.

The media has often misquoted Pope Francis and tried to make it look like he was rejecting Church teaching for some left-wing ideology. He wasn't and all one has to do is read what the Pope actually says in the context of when he said it, to understand that he is more like St Francis of Assisi than an earthly royal king.

95% of anything I've heard from Francis has been his homilies or statements, where instead of a snippet, I read the entire statement or homily (the homilies are short).

His homilies I heard many of (a couple dozen or more) several years back were very faithful to the Gospel.

They were also well formed, without wasting words, and very good at communicating.

He's been a really good preacher, and has aided those that relied on him to hear the Word.

It would be a loss to that church to lose a faithful follower of Christ in that office if the next one in the office didn't do as well following and preaching the gospel.

But we are all here only temporarily, and whenever Francis's work is finished in that office, perhaps another faithful follower of Christ might also take that office.

One can hope. And yet then there is the question of who would replace him. That would be a thing for much prayer and fasting.

Cardinal Sarah. Oh man that guy is based. I'd be giggling like a giddy schoolgirl

I mean it is technically still Christmas, so even IF, and I don't believe it personally, he is going to resign, I wouldn't expect it until Epiphany.

January 6th is the Epiphany, but I don't expect Pope Francis to resign.

My fear is if he did, Cardinal Sarah would be elected as Pope.
