People will destroy what they are afraid of. They are afraid of the living but they worship the dead. understand?
well, i guess you can be his mentor in terms of christianity...i guess we're all lining up to be that mentor. i hope he gets through things with his spirituality. what can be regretful for mentors is if the student doesn't listen. i'm not sure how to argue the situation concerning he didn't even reply yet. but we cannot argue our good intentions as mentors.
once he shifts into his personal ideas and means it with a clear path, he'll do alright. with any luck...he may find comfortable familiarities with his spirituality...things he can possibly remember.
i believe it is much easier to reach out to mentors who knows operability and loyalty and puts them together...

"'So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
. It shall not return to Me void,
. But it shall accomplish what I please,
. And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.'"

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .(Isaiah 55:11)

This says that God's word will do what He pleases > what He Himself means by His word. So, I would say a good way to know the scriptures are the word of God is to see how God does His word with you.

And God's word does say we will answer to God. So, it is wise to ask God what He wants with us.

i suppose it is good to warn people of righteousness...and come to a way of thinking to comfortability...
wavering and wondering away from comfortability is a bad sign. we all walk a familiar path of the same hardships of knowledge because it is an effort no one can walk away from.
i say every step one makes in some form of spirituality has people do what they think is right.
perhaps it is the same path we all wish to make deep down inside.
the original poster's confusion is natural...yet he has not to made another post to make us see he understands.
i personally have a hard time instructing him in christian ways...though perhaps we don't need to worry about him anymore...if he has found what he has seeked...though getting a taste of christiainity is probably what he needs. perhaps christiainity is for the best for him.
i hope he knows he must struggle for his own knowledge...but hopefully he will win by posting back in a way he can win in a way for comfortability for himself and for all. or erm...her...
techniques and sequences of the higher prayer skill sets of christianity will possibly help him...
making connections with god will hopefully make him connect to other things as well.

I personally believe that God does what He means by His word, with a person. He proves Himself. So, when I read something in God's word, or hear it, this means I do well to trust Him to do what He means with me . . . in sharing.

So, yes a person needs connection with God. And then we can do well in relating with other people and even in dealing with troubles.

Couldn't it be very possible that it's all made up?

I firmly believe that it is not all made up and the fundamental reason why I believe in Jesus Christ, is that I find that the christian concept of God and of divine love is the highest possible concept. I find that the idea itself that God loves us so much that He chose to assume the human nature and accepted to suffer crucifission in order to save us, expresses such a high concept of God and of divine love that it can comes only from God and it is certainly a truth. This concept is fully convincing for me, it proves itself by itself and makes superfluous any other arguments . I believe that Chirst suffered His Passion to help us to have faith in Him and trust Him, to make us understand that God loves us infinitely, that God is good and mercifull and that God is near to us so that we may totally trust Him and open our heart to Him, be in communion with Him and be saved.

There are other religions teaching that God is love, but the problem is to define what the word “love” means, because by itself it could be only a vague and generic concept.
The christian faith is unique because it gives a very concrete and unique meaning to the concept of divine love: in fact God’s love actualizes in the acceptance of a terrible physical suffering; the God of the christian faith loves us so much that He is willing to suffer a painful death in order to save us. In the christian faith, love is not only a theoretical and vague concept; Christ’s Passion is a clear and concrete realization of the concept of divine love which teaches us what is the true meaning of love. I think that this christian idea of divine love is the highest possible concept of divine love and it is the fundamental reason why I believe that Christ is God.

Couldn't it be very possible that it's all made up? Like some guy just needed a reason for things to be as they are, so he started making stories that to explain things, then later on other people took those stories and added on to them. I mean heck there is an argument people have made to say that the story of Jesus was just ripped off from Egyptian mythology.
First, examine the texts as if they are any other historical record. By the rules of historical evidence they are found to be reliable records of actual historical events.
As reliable records, they demonstrate that Jesus was crucified, died, and rose from the dead, and from this we conclude that he is God.
As reliable records, they also demonstrate that he established a Church and promised that it would teach true doctrine always and forever, and that it would never teach false doctrine.
And that Church holds as doctrine that the Sacred Scriptues have God as their author, and without error teach that truth which he wished to see confided to them.

Secondary question. How do you know there is just one God? What if there are actually many Gods or what if there is no God or Gods? Granted I even have to say I am skeptical about the no God argument myself. My thought on that is if there was no God or Gods we wouldn't be here. Nothing would be here. Just be empty space. But its still a question worth exploring none the less, so I'll ask it.
God is the ultimate efficient and final cause of all things, and logically there can be only one such cause.

It all depends on your starting point and world view. Your profile says "other religion", what religion is that? Please be specific...

I believe the Bible is God’s word because God as Lord Jesus Christ said so. There are parts that are hard to comprehend in light of the Gospel but I put my trust in the Lord by His Gospel.

Christ basically sums up the Bible by His commandments. He says in the golden rule to treat others as you would want to be treated. Read Matthew 7:12 but then backtrack & read Matthew 7:1-12. Note the Lord says that is the law & prophets ( so all of the books of the law & prophets fall within this).

The golden rule is a necessary mechanism for living but we need an absolute higher guidance for using it. Christ tells us this when He calls us to love God & neighbor ( read Matthew 22:36-40 etc.). Note the Lord says on these commandments are which the law & prophets depend ( or hang etc.). Again, we see most of what is known as the Old Testament affirmed. I will admit some accounts are difficult to say the least.

After, His resurrection, the Lord appeared to His disciples & testified further (read Luke 24:44-47). Note that the Lord has now testified to the law, prophets, & psalms ( well that is even more of the Bible).

It is by the commandments in which we know the Lord, indeed the Trinity since the Lord testifies to the Father, Son, & Holy Spirit in John 14:15-18. A rich young man was told this but got confused ( Matthew 19:16-22 etc.). St. Paul affirms the same ( Romans 13:8-10). It is in this we need our grounding or we may become confused ( not everyone but some).

The formation of the commandments begins in the Old Testament: Genesis 9, Deuteronomy 5, Deuteronomy 6, Leviticus 19 etc. Greater examples of their fruition are Psalms 15, Proverbs 14 esp. Proverbs 14:20-1, Proverbs 28, Micah 6:7-8, Zechariah 7:8-10, Zechariah 8:15-17, Ezekiel 18:4-9, Isaiah 55:6-13, Isaiah 58 etc.

These are what we do in response to what the Lord has done for us: John 3:16-21 within the way St. Paul says we are saved Ephesians 2:8-10.

Because I have my own experience meeting Jesus. I have my own experience of reading bible when I was unbeliever and when I am believer, filled with the Holy Spirit. The difference of understanding changes. The fact is, you can't read bible which is God's word without God's spirit. You don't have understanding without God's spirit dwelling in you.
