Ask, Seek, Knock
Audience: Disciples
Luke 11:5-13
Matthew 7:7-12

Who of you will have a friend, and will go to him at midnight and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves, because a friend of mine has come to me on a journey, and I do not have anything to set before him.’ And that one will answer from inside and say, ‘Do not cause me trouble! The door has already been shut and my children are with me in bed! I am not able to get up to give you anything.’ I tell you, even if he does not give him anything after he gets up because he is his friend, at any rate because his persistence he will get up and give him whatever he needs.” - Jesus Christ

Ask, and it will be given; for the one who asks, receives.
Seek, and you shall find; for the one who seeks, finds.
Knock, and it will be opened; for the one who knocks it will be opened.
A son asks for a fish or an egg, what father will give his son a snake or a scorpion? If you, although you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the Father from heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him? Therefore in all things, whatever you want people to do to you, do also to them. This is the law and the prophets.
” - Jesus Christ

The Unjust Judge is another parable with the same persistence in Luke 18:1-8, even though it is for a different matter, the persistence is the same. Jesus is showing as well as telling us that we should always pray and that there is so much to pray for. Even so, the Holy Spirit makes intercession on our behalf because we don’t always know what we need: Romans 8:26. This is not to say that God will forget our needs, no, He knows what we need: Matthew 6:8. This is so we don’t forget to always ask, seek and knock toward the will of our Father in heaven. To even pray for the blessings of our friends as well as enemies. To show the Love of God so that others that do not believe may believe in Jesus Christ by both our hidden actions and visible acts. This is what it means to be humble even in prayer (law and the prophets).

Small Testimony
When I was a child, I remember seeing some homeless people. I knew they were homeless due to their clothing being all ratty and dirty. My family were in a park downtown and we were getting ice cream from a truck. I couldn’t help but notice such a man with some bags he was carrying, before he sat and rested at a nearby bench. I asked my dad for some money to give to him and he gave it freely, and so I gave the man money. I remember my dad telling me “you’re such a good girl, very nice of you.”, but I didn’t understand why he would say that. I saw someone in need of some kind of help, and asking for help was the only way I knew how to help another.

I believe this is exactly how Father God wants us to be, like children in His Kingdom for they will inherit the Kingdom: Matthew 18:3-5 & Matthew 19:14
We can’t help others if we don’t know what their plight is, but we can always ask God to help them. Sometimes it is through us and other times isn’t. Sometimes we don’t even know the ripple effects we have on people’s lives by whatever action we take - be it prayer, an encouraging word, or by actions we take. This is often my case where I don’t see the results, but I have faith that God does them. This can be seen by the depiction of sowing a seed while another waters it, but only God makes it grow: 1 Corinthians 3:6-9. :yellowheart:
