The city of Tulsa is experiencing a surge in coronavirus cases, a little over 2 weeks after President Donald Trump held a campaign rally in an indoor arena there.

Dr. Bruce Dart, Executive Director of the Tulsa Health Department, said in a press conference on Wednesday there are high numbers being reported this week, with nearly 500 new cases in two days and trends are showing that those numbers will increase.

There had been a 20% decline in new Covid-19 cases the week of June 28 through July 4.
The Tulsa Health Department reported 266 new cases on Wednesday, bringing the total number in the county to 4,571.

When asked if the cases in Tulsa are going up due to the rally on June 20, Dart said that there were several large events a little over two weeks ago.

This OP didn't age well, did it
Given the lack of following basic safety measures to handle the virus by a large amount of conservatives, not many of them will age well.

Ah, come on, that’s low.

I mean, I won’t lie, it made me chuckle, but
I felt bad about it immediately.

What a surprise.

Looks like another bust of a rally for Trump. This one didn’t even get to start before failing.

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. -- President Trump’splanned rally on Saturday in New Hampshire is being postponed to another day because of expected bad weather on the East Coast, officials said Friday.

“The rally scheduled for Saturday in Portsmouth, New Hampshire has been postponed for safety reasons because of Tropical Storm Fay. It will be rescheduled and a new date will be announced soon," said Tim Murtaugh, the Trump 2020 communications director.
Trump’s New Hampshire rally postponed because of Tropical Storm Fay

I take it as yet another sign from nature wanting Trump to lose the upcoming election.

Because of Tropical Storm Fay? Was this a recent decision? Because I'm in Philadelphia and we are getting hit by it (looks like the center moved by a little while ago) it's mostly just a slightly rainier storm than normal. It's a pretty "meh" storm.

ETA: I was wrong, the actual center of the storm is still off Cape May

For weeks, President Trump’s campaign aides have fretted about whether he could draw a major crowd to an airport rally Saturday night in Portsmouth, N.H., or if not, whether they could stage the event to make it look full.

The danger, all agreed, was a repeat of Trump’s disastrous last rally, three weeks ago in Tulsa, Okla., where TV cameras showed two-thirds of the indoor arena as a sea of empty blue seats, and the vast throngs predicted outside failed to materialize.

Worse, health officials later said the president’s Tulsa rally “likely contributed” to a sharp spike in coronavirus infections in the state, one of three dozen now battling a record increase in COVID-19 cases.

On Friday, the White House abruptly pulled the plug on the planned New Hampshire rally, citing weather worries even though the forecast showed morning thunderstorms mostly clearing by the evening. Aides said it would be rescheduled.

Funny how the virus only happens at trump events and never at black life matters events.
The thousands on the street protesting days before and during certainly didn’t have any effect.

Covid avoids large groups that are not for the President.

Isn't it wild how indoor events are different than outdoor events?

Isn't it wild how indoor events are different than outdoor events?

Or how wearing masks makes a difference.

It's almost like being outdoors with masks on is better than being indoors without them like fools.

Dozens of emails obtained by The Hill through a state freedom of information request reveal growing angst within the Oklahoma public health department in the days leading up to the June 20 rally.

Aaron Wendelboe, who at the time was the Oklahoma State Department of Health’s epidemiologist, sent one email titled: “How strongly do I speak out?”

“I am concerned that the mass indoor gathering in Tulsa of 19,000 people will directly lead to deaths in Oklahoma,” Wendelboe stated in the email, which has not previously been reported. “As the state epidemiologist, I feel I have a responsibility to speak out and warn of the estimated risk.”

In an internal risk analysis, Wendelboe, who left the department after his contract expired this summer, estimated that the event would likely lead to “at least 2 deaths and probably closer to 10.”

...
On Sunday, [Trump] held an indoor campaign rally in Henderson, Nev. — the first for Trump since the Tulsa gathering.

The event attracted criticism from public health experts, but the Trump campaign defended it, saying it was held under precautions for public health.
