If you wanted to really get good at knowing prophecy, such as Jesus being predicted prior to the 1st century along with end times, do you think that a deep study of Psalms would be just as important as strongly knowing the prophetic books and Revelation? And as far as I am aware mastering Matthew is the most important NT book other than Revelation for being very good with prophecy.
Am I wrong about Matthew? And can anyone who is good with prophecy suggest maybe a sliding scale of what is most crucial to a deep study of prophecy (already assuming a general familiarity with the entire Bible)? Like is Isaiah much more crucial than Jeremiah for example? Would Proverbs have much prophetic value? How about a certain book in the Pentateuch? See I am thinking of buying a lot of commentaries, and what I might do as a happy medium is get harder more technical commentaries for the books that are crucial to understanding prophecy, and then just get less technical and more enjoyable reads for the other Biblical books (the top of the line technical commentaries are much more expensive! And I can’t afford to go all out on all 66 books). Also, are there other NT books (Besides Matthew) that specialize in referencing prophecies much more than the others? Like how about Hebrews? Thanks for any help! By the way there is an extremely impressive/technical 3 volume set on Psalms that’s why I started out mentioning that first.
