• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I thought I had the worst cold imaginable -

fatigue, streaming nose, watering eyes, I 'knew' I couldn't drive to work but I was told to come in or be terminated so I got into the car with a full box of tissues, was able to see well enough to drive, got to work and within minutes was fine.

My place of work was a garden center, exposed to the allergens so abundant in the outdoors air here at that time of year, but I was fine. So the allergen had to be in the house, brilliant deduction Watson.

I took off the side panel under the hot water heater and there was a lot of black spot mold. I washed it with dilute bleach left it out to dry and then heated it everything under there with a fan heater to past 160 F to kill the mold and have felt a lot better since then.

As someone who is sensitive to mold, I avoid peanuts (despite loving peanut butter). I do know that cheese and vinegar harbor a lot of mold as well.

Not to be nit picky but I can kind of see moldy peanuts or cheese being something to avoid, but it seems strange vinegar would harbor mold. Is that what you meant or did you mean vinegar kills mold?

Oh, what an interesting detective story you've got there, solving the mystery of your mysterious ailment!

Wow, that's quite a story! Mold can really mess with your health without you even realizing it. It's crazy how it can mimic cold symptoms. Kudos to you for the detective work in your own home. Cleaning up that mold under your hot water heater was a smart move. Bleach and high heat are effective against it. But here's a friendly tip – consider getting a professional mold inspection done. They can check if there are any hidden mold issues elsewhere in your home. It's all about making sure you're breathing clean air and staying healthy.
