Wow the power of hindsight!
Let me do you all one better, if the Chinese government has been more transparent and informed the world earlier instead of downplaying it there would not be a pandemic! #mindblown
NONSENSE
Let's see what China did to the world. There have been about 5000 deaths in the rest of Asia, probably less than the latest cyclone. Europe and the Americans will have had hundreds of thousands of deaths. Sure, China could have told the Asians (and us) more sooner and stopped air travel. Perhaps the 5000 would have been cut down. What is the excuse for the 100K deaths in the Americas? We'll never really know how bad the Central and South American numbers are.
Perhaps, just perhaps it was the US governmental response that was most to blame.
Hundreds of thousands of Chinese were traveling to Asian countries in November, December, January and February, many more than to the US. Everyone was given the same late information. Everyone had the same information from past epidemics. Everyone closed down air travel, most earlier than the US.
The US acted one way and the Asian countries acting differently. Let's ignore Chinese data and look at the rest of Asia. Remember that the first verified case in South Korea and the US were on about the same day. Everyone has access to good test kits and poor ones. Everyone had the ability to start whatever protocols they wished. Everyone had a copy of the genome to work from. In the end, the US has tested MORE per capita than the Asian countries. Trump considers this a grand success, not understanding that testing in late May is just not the same as testing in Late February or March.
Was this really an epidemic like no other? Did we NOT learn from fighting SARS, MERS, M1N1 and even the common flu each year. Well, some administrations and governments chose one direction. The US chose another. We told sick people to go home and infect their families instead of isolating them. We tested no one without severe symptoms. South Korea had an early test, isolate, treat and trace program.
Does anyone really think that it was the better doctors in Asia that made the difference? Does that REALLY make the up the difference between 95K dead and 5K dead? Or was the governments that made the difference?

==================
JUST BY THE WAY
When comparing with Europe, the results are mixed. There were 8 European countries who have done worse (so far) than the US, including Sweden. Many more are doing better. Some are much worse, even twice s and: Belgium, Spain and the UK. Of course, most of Scandinavia, Germany and Austria are doing much better.
