Will you join me in fasting for our nation, fasting for our churches, fasting for our economy, fasting for spiritual breakthrough?
There is a daniel fast, where you just eat veggies.
I do an intermittent fast simply because right now it's a life long thing for me. I eat one meal a day. I have a two hour window where I eat. The rest of the day when I am hungry I eat a bullion broth with a tablespoon of canola oil (one cube of beef bullion, or chicken). That gives me 2 or 3 grams of sodium a day. When you lower your carbs your body goes into ketosis and starts to discharge all it's minerals and electrolytes. So you have to suppliment them. During my work week I eat salads during the meal window, I usually have one treat. My treat is a spoon full of nutella. Or another treat could be fried eggs on toast, bread is not permitted on keto really. So bread can be a treat. As long as it's less than about sixty grams in a few hour window of carbs, it should not kick you out of ketosis. I would shoot for no more than a treat of 20-30 grams though. You don't want to risk getting put out of ketosis, it makes you feel yucky. When ever your body transitions from burning carbs to ketosis your body feels tired and sick. It goes away after a day. It happens on the second or third day of fasting, and it's sometimes found by hunger pains, but as soon as you are on third of fourth day the hunger pains go away mostly. Your stomach shrinks and you get fuller with less. It also cleanses your body of toxins. IT also helps you lose weight any week you want. Since I regularly do this I will make it looser. If I desire more breakthrough later, I can do a full twenty four hour fast of all solids, and just do the canola oil. My meals are usually a spinach salad with one or two avacado's, two boiled eggs, and a form of meat, either cubed turkey ham or hamburger meat (seasoned). That gives me the protein and such and micro nutrients that I need. But if you want to fast from meat just remove it from your salad and just do the salad and eggs and avacado's. The avacado's have five hundred to a thousand milligrams of potassium. the second most important electrolyte. So you will need to suppliment that as well. If you do fasting long term, you may look into foods with magnesium as well. But I just take a multi vitamin with it in it, and a calcium pill. because milk is not keto approved. Once you lose your weight to your goal you can do more of a weight watcher, or carb counting type of approach where you can eat anything just limit what you eat. It's good to change diets every six months anyway to get over plateus. But limiting your body in this way really causes breakthrough I can't tell you how much of my life has changed since I started this lifestyle. My wife also started dieting and my mother in law they both lost twenty five to thirty pounds, I have lost fifty. My goal is to lose another thirty. Then go on weight watchers and just maintain. Keto is not good long term I here, but there are ways to alternate recipes if you want. But to do this only to lose weight is one thing, but to do this to discipline your body, to repent of gluttony and to fast is quite another motive. I realize our motives can get mixed on this. So that is why I will probably still do it even when i am at my goal weight. I typically will reach a low weight, then incorporate more carbs, to reset my body to burning carbs, gain ten or twenty back, then do it over again, this sort of resets, a good time for this is during holiday season when good food is available. On weekends I typically eat breakfast foods. Today I had scrambled eggs and meat and green onions and cheese as my meal of the day. I usually make that on weekends because I don't like salad every day. Sometimes i do an omelette with meat and veggies inside, topped with sour cream and salsa. That is probably my favorite meal. But you can do steaks on keto too if you want. Or fast from steaks. I like to drink black coffee during my fasting part of the day, and no sugar on anything. Then in my window I drink creamer and sweetener in my coffee. Sometimes I have diet soda during my window, I like that. But too much soda is bad for kidneys. One can a day only. If doing every day. Make sure it's not sugary soda, that really messes up kidneys over ten or twenty years. Peer reviews talk about that. Kidney function goes down on regular drinking of soda, and that is one thing they don't let you drink if you have one kidney. It's because of the dies are hard on kidneys, but also the chemicals in sugary drinks. Diet clear soda's are better if drinking lots. But ultimately fasting temporarily you don't have to worry about health issues with it. But if you are doing it long term, then you need to incorporate some of the things. some people just fast from sugar only. Or from meat only, or from bread only. Maybe coffee. But you can fast from any of it or all of it. I started out doing one fast a week on sunday. I fasted from all solids. But that was actually harder than doing a one meal a day intermittent fast all week. Because you have that irregular schedule thing, you always dreaded sunday morning, and were like...not sunday again. So I recommend doing your fast every day, whatever it is. I group of people did a fast from the beginning of the year till the end of january, I joined them. But at the end of the month I plan on just to keep doing it. Indefinately. After christmas I gained 18 pounds and lost about five in last few weeks of fasting. So there are health benefits to it. June hunt has a book out called "overeating" and it's on kindle unimited if you have that.
Don’t pray just because you want something. Prayer is more meaningful when you know God’s grace is sufficient ...
