Why stop there? Can you support a party/candidate who would oppress widows and orphans? Can you support those who neglect immigrants? How about showing favoritism to the wealthy and powerful?
Just trying to understand your post...are you saying this is what the Republican party (Trump) is doing?
Let's just say (truthfully) ... that there are politicians ... who do so.

It is a common thread in human government ...

The OP appears to support the "pro life" strategy that by voting Republican in the hopes of appointing enough conservative Supreme Court Justices to repeal Roe v Wade, America will return to the "good old days" when abortion was illegal!

Instead of addressing the underlying issues that contribute to abortions, pro-life supporters contend that by making it illegal the problem will largely solved and America's young women will submit to unwanted full term pregnancies!

rLike Prohibition,, America's last major morals experiment whereby the nation's religious minority mposed its moral standards upon the secular majority, young women may choose to defy the law forcing the authorities into the unpopular position of legislating deterrents in an attempt to enforce compliance!

The prospect of incarcerating large numbers of the nation's young women for defying anti-abortion laws imposed by a vocal minority, will create a political firestorm to repeal the dictates of any conservative "pro-life" majority in the Supreme Court!

No more than making murder or theft illegal stops murder or thefts. But it does help contain them. In these days of easily available and effective birth control why should anyone even need to seek an abortion? Are people too stupid or lazy to obtain contraceptiion? The number of unintentional pregnancies, especially in this country, should be incredibly small....even rare.

We live in a secular culture. As a Christian, I am a minority and live a life outside of this culture, just passing through on my way to my eternal home. HOWEVER, while I am alive, I am responsible to subject myself to authority and participate (obey laws, pay taxes, vote, etc.) in the culture. I do not look to politicians for moral leadership. Can they do the job as effectively as possible within the framework of a secularized culture? I follow politics, local and national, but do not expect ANY politician to follow my worldview (Christian). I cannot support a political party that supports "pro-choice" NOR ANY politician who embraces abortion as a "choice", regardless of political party. I am not in favor of any theocratic government, including Christian. Questions or comments welcome. Please be polite Thank you for reading.
I agree and would NEVER vote for a candidate who is not pro life..

let people call me single issue voter

there is no more important issue. someone dies and the other person is a murderer for life (feels like it, even after God forgives)

what more important issues is there? And like I tell people all the time: If people get the most important issue wrong, what r the chances theywill getmany others wrong as well? I'd say chances are quite good they will... A person should think about /meditate on the issues before saying "I'm pro----" or anti----

and if someone does not do that, he or she is not fit for public office

Thus far I'm with you.
. This Christian voter may even vote time to time for a “pro-choice” candidate that they believe has a track record for alleviating the factors that surround abortion: access health care and education or issues of systematic poverty. I think both of these voters can vote the way they do in sincerity. I do not, however, believe a Christian can take the stance of being “pro-abortion.”

.
I know a woman who had virtualy NO support system and NO money but she did not have an abortion

there is never an excuse to commit murder, to kill a totally innocent, helpless person

& if life/death for innocent persons is not a priority voting issue... something is very wrong

Agree.

I still say it could be a candidate who allows choice but whose policies work to drastically reduce abortions that could be more in line with what you stated than someone who claims to be pro life but whose policies does nothing to eliminate abortions, merely sweeping them underground.

It's very similar (but not exact) to the principle in James 2: 15-17 concerning one who is poorly clothed and hungry.
What good is it to say one is pro life if their policies only hide abortions? No, reduce the number of abortions then we can honestly say one is on the side of life.
