  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I've been listening to these podcast episodes and really enjoying them so I thought I'd share them cause I thought it's an interesting subject to discuss. I know @Rhamiel and I have had discussions about Catholic society and what sort of government would serve a Catholic society best. A monarchy? A republic? A feudal state?

*Just a note that part 2 and possibly part 3 aren't the greatest audio quality, it sounds like a recorded phone call. Each episode is about 35-40 minutes long so maybe it's something that, if you're interested, you can listen to when you have some free time or while you're driving somewhere. These episodes are also available on Apple podcasts if that's a more convenient source for you.

Part 1:

The Rights of Christ the King over the State. "This podcast is about the Social Rights of Christ the King, the rights of the Church to influence the State and the need for modern Catholic Action in things like pro-life rescue.

Part 2:

Glad Trad 4.1, Tim Gordon on a Catholic Republic. "In this podcast Tim Gordon discusses where politics meets religion in his new book Catholic Republic: Why America Will Perish Without Rome. Gordon argues that that 'America is republic wired Catholic, labeled Protestant, and currently functioning as a secular.'"

Part 3:

Glad Trad 4.2, Tim Gordon on a Catholic Community. "In this podcast Tim Gordon and I discuss the two directions Catholic community in America could take via Clint Eastwood's movie Gran Torino, namely love of society or love of the individual."
