Romans 8:28 - what if I do not love God anymore?

Romans 8:28 famously says, "All things work for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose."

Problem is - I think we have all had times, maybe even years, in our lives, when we simply felt little or no love for God at all. Do things temporarily stop working for our good until somehow our love for God is revived?

I wouldn't think that if we drop God He just turns around instantly and likewise drops us. No, I think God in His Spirit and in pointing constantly toward Christ will be following you around until you persistently tell Him to take a hike. Of course, in this latter case, one would have to REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, REALLY mean it. Otherwise, you're probably stuck with Him!

Well, I didn't stop believing or loving God, but I was not walking with him for over 30 years. I can see ways in which he was working for me even during that time. Eventually I returned to him stronger than ever. I'm so thankful that he welcomed me back with open arms.

For further 'research', or simply prayer and seeking Yahweh and His Revelation of His Truth,
How someone "feels" doesn't matter, per se. So "feeling" little or no love for God at all
is of no consequence itself.

Simply obey Him, no matter the cost, no matter how it "feels".

He's always drawing us to Him and is always there for us with open arms ... either to come to Him initially or to return to Him if we backslide. He is very patient.

John 12:32

And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.”

Revelation 2:5

Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lamp stand from its place, unless you repent.
