I know several Catholics (both men and women) that most definitely or definitely had and are having premarital sex. They are straight. I asked a few when discussing sins to see what they thought about it and they said stuff like "well... as long as you don't do it in excess or become addicted to sex then having premarital sex is okay". These weren't priests btw, just average Christian men.
But I've heard these same people speak harshly against homosexuality. Also tons of young Christians are very openly against abortion rights and against being transgender because those are allegedly "sins", but these same Christians have premartial sex.
I've been raised to believe that sex outside marriage is a sin, although right now I can't think of what specific Bible texts say this. So I was wondering, is premartial straight sex somehow less of a sin than homosexual sex (and abortions and living as the opposite sex and other current issues that many young Christians firmly oppose)?
If homosexual sex is a sin then straight premarital sex would be a sin too for the same reason, right? Or at least both would be sins of equal severity, right?
Because I can't help thinking that I'm surrounded by hypocrites when I go to church now. I'm 100% aware that I'm far from perfect myself but at least I try to be open and respectful of people's "sins" because I'm a sinner like everyone. So it makes me uncomfortable to go to church and know that the same people who have premarital sex are those that constantly speak against trans people, against abortion rights, against homosexuals, as if they (Christians) have the moral high ground. To the point where I have stopped going to church and just practice my religion alone.
